Episode 21; Standard Of The Shinma: Miyu arrives in a small village plagued by Shinma and located in another dimension. There, she meets the Satos, a father and daughter who are descendants of her Guardian Shinma Clan, whose job it is to protect the Guardian. They are fighting to keep the Shinma from destroying their village, but three Shinma brothers want the daughter as a bride. Miyu and Reiha vow that they will not allow this to happen, and they fight against the Shinma. Despite defeating them, they are unable to save the Satos, who sacrifice themselves for their duty. Reiha, who identified with the young girl and the father's sacrifice, blames Miyu and vows revenge, while Miyu herself is saddened by the misfortune she brought. Episode 22; Miyu's Tale: The story behind Miyu's past is revealed. As a fourteen-year-old girl born to a human mother and a Shinma father, it had been decided at her birth that Miyu would become the Guardian, destined to return stray Shinma to the Dark. As a human, Miyu lived with her mother, who was rendered mentally unstable after the death of Miyu's father at the hands of a Shinma Clan of Birds. On the night that Miyu was fated to be reborn as the Guardian, the Clan of Birds attacked again, killing Miyu's mother, as well as the leader of the Guardian Shinma clan, as they attempted to protect Miyu. The leader's daughter, Reiha, witnessed this event, and vowed never to forget both Miyu's and the stray Shinma's responsibility for her father's death. After finally awakening as the Guardian, Miyu destroys the attackers and ventures out to fulfill her painful destiny. |
