Disc 01

In the outskirts of the Milky Way, are two neigboring planets. Surprisingly, men and women live separately in each planet. The planets namely, The Fleet Nation Mejale - planet of women, and Planetary Nation Tarak - the planet of men, are on a grudge against each other for a long time. In Tarak, there's a legend that says that women eat men's liver! On a more important note, women always dominate men, and men can no longer stand it, they have prepared something to outmaneouver women.
Tarak has come up with their remodeled immigration ship, Ikazuchi, and they even come up with a new modern weapon, the Bangatas (Ban/Van type Machines) - offensive humanoid-type machines designed to be piloted by men.
Hibiki Tokai, a third class citizen of Tarak, is provoked by third class fellows to infiltrate the Ikazuchi and rob a Bangata. When he has infiltrated Ikazuchi, however, he is caught in the act of stealing a Bangata.
At the same time, a pirate ship of Mejale, lead by Magno Vivan, attacks Ikazuchi. These pirates, even though related to Mejale, are treated as outcasts by their own planet and their attack is in no way related to Mejale. In the midst of battle, a UFO fanatic, Dita Liebely, a pilot in training who was assigned to search for Bangatas (Van Type Machines, Vanguards), had her "first-contact" with what she thinks as an extraterrestrial being, Hibiki. Dita, who forgets her original duty calls Hibiki Mr. Alien (Uchuujin-san), and runs after him.
Hibiki finally shakes off Dita, until he finds the Bangata which sleeps in the hangar. He sits on its cockpit, and tries to escape. The captain in command of Tarak, after seeing the danger of Mejale pirates having taken over the Ikazuchi, commands the separation of the old hull of Ikazuchi and the discharge of spacial torpedo "Murabasa," both planning to keep away from women and annihilating them. On one hand, the Mejale side knows about the torpedo approaching and tried to withdraw from the old Ikazuchi hull, but the control system that slept in the old warship awakens and drives recklessly! The old Ikazuchi hull and the Pirate Ship of Mejale warps and are thrown completely in another space territory. The Pexis Plagma, an orb of crystalline substance, is the known name of the control system and is normally used as an energy source of space battleship. For that, it drives recklessly when awakened, and it combined Ikazuchi and the pirate ship of Mejale. As for Hibiki and Dita, they are taken inside the crystal. Hibiki's Bangata has transformed into a completely new form!
At the outerspace, where they were warped, a mysterious monitoring system is watching the event of combination of ships. The mysterious monitoring system suddenly attacks the merging ship. In the confusion of the encounter of men and women, who are expected to be fighting each other, they cooperates and fight the unknown enemy. The fighter plane of Dita (a Dread), rescues Hibiki in his predicament. Dita's Dread and Hibiki's Bangata (SP Van, or transformed Bangata) accomplishes another transformation, reborn with the power of Pexis Plagma. The unity of two bodies, Vandread (enormous human-type robot) defeats the monitoring system. Information was obtained after defeating the monitoring system. The enemy's cryptographic maneuver is known as "karitori" or "harvest." It is also known that the mysterious enemy is after Tarak and Mejale, the planets of Hibiki and Dita respectively. In order to inform about the crisis, men and women of the ship travels home to their mother star commences. What can be the future of three boys and one hundred fifty girls?

Changes:
• A footage of Mejale Pirates having a meeting about attacking Tarak.
• 13 episodes were compressed, so this is definitely shorter and very fast paced.
• Meia's episode ( What A Wonderful World) is in the near end. If you recall, when Meia was rushed to the infirmary, we did not know when and where she was wounded. It is cleared up in Vandread Taidouhen that this episode is sort of a future episode inserted in the middle. Maybe it wasn't made the ending in Vandread because the focus pair is Hibiki and Dita.
• BC's sending off the "message bombs" to Tarak and Mejale is the conclusion of Vandread Taidouhen.
