Review:
From the moment you see a clip from the film Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen, you know what to expect. A film that has a plot so boring and pointless that it makes you wonder who demands films as such to be made. Well, not exactly actually. While Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen isn't a good film whatsoever, its direction and spirit is fun, but it lacks in areas it should have prevailed.
Mainly the script is the fault in the film. Why, you would ask? Well take for example a story about a young teenage girl who is moving to another state and wants to find friends, wants to explore the city and wants to attend a concert in which her favorite band is playing. Well, that itself sums up the screenplay of the film Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen.
However, with that said, Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen in its own right clearly had potential to be more than what it turned out to be. The Direction and lead actress Lindsay Lohan are the two main joys of this film, but the lack of a script worth witnessing is not present.
There are always films that fall deep inside a hole from the moment it begins strolling along. Although I wouldn't directly place this film under that, I can say that if it wasn't for its somewhat interesting way of making points and its somewhat original direction, Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen would have been closer to a disaster than just a bad film.
On its own terms it has the look of a funny and pretty motion picture for children, but it fails to have enough entertainment to keep anyone continuously interested and laughing for that matter. Those are always the main attractions with films as such and it didn't quite succeed in either one.
As far as acting goes, its simply not even enough to call it even average acting. Its more a deliverance of a notch below average in the acting department. There was more expectations from this young actress, but it seems the character didn't call for a good performance at all.
On the performances note, the supporting cast was even far worse, but it was to be expected. I also find it humorous how in films such as these filmed mostly in school always need to have the bully type teen that insults and says things like "Jerk", "Stupid" and "Four Eyes". The last time teens were using those words instead of the obvious profanity they actually use is beyond me.
One element that I found strong in Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen is the fact that it kept pulling Lindsay Lohan's character away from the puppy love stage with a boy. Instead of going the usual route that other teen films go, it takes you all the way to the end with a dosage of lessons to be learned. However, it was still a complete Hollywood ending and with the points made, it was not enough to even call it original.
The flaws in the film are too much for one to handle though. There is more suffering than entertainment in the film and its not a good sign when that occurs. Lindsay Lohan looks great on screen, but delivers in a greatly disappointing matter. Perhaps growing up and choosing other pictures will be a wise decision for her.
Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen looks like a bad film and it is a bad film. It could have been a bit more than what it was, but the script sure brings it notches down. With more interesting situations, a stronger plot and better acting, this film could have been something. The film was a bad idea, gone terribly wrong. It could have been something, but wasn't. Wasn't at all.
