Iceland Mag about Viggo's Trip...
Viggo Mortensen went riding The actor Viggo Mortensen, who became world famous for his role in Lord of the Rings, was here in Iceland last week. Like Aragorn, he is a very good horseman and he went riding with his son Henry Mortensen twice with the horse-rental Laxnes. They went for a two hour ride around the area, says Haukur Ŝorarinsson who went with them as a guide on their second ride. He washed his dishes "He is very good on a horse and he liked it. They had bad weather the first time they came but they enjoyed themselves. They had a meatsoup for dinner and he also washed the dishes," says Haukur about how common Viggo was. The father and son liked the Icelandic horses. "I think that Viggo hadn´t ridden Icelandic horses before but he found them agreeable," says Haukur. As an illustration of Viggo's love for horses, he asked that Aragorn spend more time on horseback in Lord of the Rings than was originally planned. He also kept his horse near him while filming and went riding when he wasn´t filming so he could bond with the horse. The Mortensens left Iceland yesterday. It is worth noting that the 15-year-old Henry Mortensen has appeared in films like his father. He played, for example, Viggo's son in the film Crimson Tide, in 1995. Haukur is a big Lord of the Rings fan, both of the books and the films, and was very pleased with the visit. "It was a big honour." |
