Australia - North-South-Wales
The landscape in Australia is hot and dry, only in the North
tropical. The draughts increased in the last years. In this
homepage we consider the South East part, the state
North-South-Wales and especially the main line Sydney-Adelaine.
"The Ghan" is the name of the comfortable express train
Sydney- Adelaine- Alice Springs.
The line from Alice Springs to Darwin opened in December 2003,
and the passenger service extending "the Ghan" express
train started in January 2004. It was a huge building project and
this line make it possible, to run freight from Southern
Australia to the port in Darwin for sipping to East Asia.

This double decker commuter train is the first train developed
completely in Australia, introduced in 2003. It attracted very
much attention, but it is still not running in rush hours due to

The legendary Silver City comet built in 1937 made the travel to
country side attractive, like to Broken Hill, Newcastle and
Canberra. The trains is now used for nostalgic train tours.
