Sweden / Norway
The landscape in Sweden is known for its
endless forests and many lakes. The long winters and short
summers are the reason for the poor vegetation. In this web-side
three main lines are considered:
Line Oslo - Malmoe
The connection from the Norwegian captal to the South. Norway has
very steep mountains and the so-called fjords. We consider here
only the southern part, the connection to Malmoe.
Line Malmoe - Stockholm
This is the main connection from the continent to the Swedish
capital Stockholm. The trains from the South via Copenhavn can
pass the new Oresund-brigde, which was opened in July 2000. Also
ferry-boat connections for example to Sassnitz in Germany arrive
in Malmoe. The fastest train on this line is the express train
type X2000 running up to 200km/h.
Line Stockholm - Luela -
Narvik
North of Stockholm the landscape becomes more unique and more
lonely. The distance from Stcokholm to Luela is 1100km. Narvik is
the ore-mining station in Norway about 200km north of the Artic
circle.
Line Oslo - Malmoe - (Kobenhavn)

a joint venture between the Norwegian, Swedish and Danish
Railways, operating the passenger expresses between the capitals
of the three countries.

The express train "Alfred Nobel" with Swedich Rc5 and
German coach run from Oslo via Malmoe, Kobenhavn to Hamburg. Here
the Northbound Eurocity "Alfred Nobel" passes the later
disused Henelva Bridge (45 kilometres south of Oslo) in
springtime 1992. This train was a night connection between Oslo
and Hamburg with day coaches between Oslo and
Halmstad/Helsingborg in southern Sweden, an ran through
Copenhagen without stop!

The express-passenger train from Malmoe to Bratislava via Berlin
and Praha is rushing into Trelleborg in the very south of Sweden.
At the ferry station in Trelleborg the coaches will be rolled
onboard the railway ferry, heading for Sassnitz in (the former
Eastern) Germany. The only swedish vehicle in the train is the
engine, an electric engine class RC3 no 1073 of the SJ. Then
follows two coaches of the CD (the Czech Republic), one coach of
the ZSR (the Slovenian Republic) and two coaches of the MAV
(Hungary). Saturday, 1997-08-30 at 17:35.
