Fortress Christopher
Lambert is John Brennick, a retired Black Beret in a
future where overpopulation enforces a
one-child-per-woman policy. He and his wife had that one
child, but it died at birth, when she gets pregnant
again, they decide to flee to Mexico. Once Brennick decides he's had enough, he attempts a breakout, with his cell-mates in tow. One by one they are eliminated by various cyborgs, until there is just the Brennicks and Nino heading for the border in the truck that brought them all to the prison. With resources scare and the population soaring, couples are only allowed to have one child. Former Black Beret Captain John Brennick and his wife Karen have broken the law. Caught and tried for their crime, they are sent to the Fortress, the most sophisticated maximum-security prison on the planet, a jail built 30 stories underground and equipped with technology beyond imagination. Now John Brennick has to escape from this seemingly impossible prison to try and find his wife and son, that is if they are indeed still alive. After escaping from a maximum-security prison known as the Fortress, renegade John Brennick (Christopher Lambert) and his wife and son are fugitives on the run. But Brennick is soon apprehended again and placed in a futuristic state-of-the-art maximum-security prison recently completed by Men-Tel. Orbiting 26,000 miles from earth, the prison houses the planet's most fierce criminals, forcing them to perform dreaded space labour amidst meteor showers and other harsh elements. Here, Brennick is locked down by hi-tech security jail cells and surrounded by an elaborate system of computer surveillance devices, including a camera placed inside his body. If Brennick ever wants to be reunited with his wife and son, he has no hope but to try to escape - an idea that was never thought possible...until now!
