Carpenter combines Kurt Russell with incredible special
effects in this jaw-breaking film. This in all honesty is a film that sticks in your mind and stays there for a very very long time. Set in the winter of 1982 a twelve man research team at a remote Antarctica research centre discover the remains of an alien buried under the ice for over 100,000 years. Soon unfrozen and unleashed it is not long until the shape-shifting Thing creates havoc and terror as it changes form and is now one among them. This is the sort of film I can watch every few years and still enjoy it as much as my first viewing. This is a brilliant film, without doubt a true classic.
