A behind-the-scenes profile of the Chicken Ranch, a legalized brothel in Nevada, and the story of the women who work there. Nick Kurt & Courtney Broomfield and his associate Sandi Sissel faux- fumble their way behind closed doors to expose the surreal, tragi-comical world of this gilded bird cage.
Enjoyable doco shot around the five days of the first International Hookers' Convention in Washington DC, and its charismatic convenor, the sassy Margo St James, as she agitates for the decriminalisation of prostitution. Surprise cameo by a junior JIM (Newshour) LEHRER. dir:Ginny Durin.

Early, controversial exploitation flick, part melodrama, part docudrama, set around the “red light” districts of several U.S. cities, tells the story of a young woman lured into prostitution by a “white slaver” after having been rejected by her family. This surviving version runs nearly half the original length, the most confronting (presumably “actuality”) footage having been excised either by censors or by private collectors.
