When Jack Hill was interviewed at the 1996 re- release of the movie, he pointed out that it did have some authenticity-he interviewed girl gang members and rewrote the script. Jack said- "But the idea of doing a realistic movie about street gangs with beautiful blondes in hotpants was preposterous, so we tried to make it a wacky fantasy."

The movie was originally released in 1975 as "The Jezebels", then it was re-released as the "Playgirl Gang".

The Color in the movie was provided by Eastmancolor.

Re-released theatrically in 1996 under the title "Switchblade Sisters", Distributed by Quentin Tarantino's Rolling Thunder Pictures, a division of Miramax.It opened in New York City and Los Angeles on June 14th 1996. It opened in Boston, Chicago and Philadelphia on June 21st 1996.

Although the film flopped when it was first released, It has become a cult favorite over the years.

Actress Joanne Nail turned down a role on the hit television show "Charlie's Angels" to appear in this film.

Kitty Bruce(Donut) is the daughter of comedian Lenny Bruce.

The Rhino Video is part of the Company's "Johnny Legend presents" series. It was remastered from the orignal prints and negatives and feature brand new interviews with stars Robbie Lee, Joanne Nail and director Jack Hill.

The Buena Vista VHS and laserdisc versions, distributed by Quentin Tarantino's Rolling Thunder Pictures, features an exclusive on-camera introduction by Tarantino before the film.

Jack Hill's two young daughters appeared in the opening scenes of the movie, when the TV collector comes to pick up the TV.

When the movie was first released in 1975, it got banned in many countrys, due to the fact the political leaders did not want to see their women behave in that fashion.

Jack Hill has stated on many occasions, that the hardest scene to shoot in the movie was the roller rink gunfight. Jack said that they didnt have enough time to film the scene properly and it ended up been patched together.

Switchblade Sisters was shot in 18 days and only cost $320,000 dollars to make.

Switchblade Sisters was the last movie Jack Hill directed in his 15 year career. He now spends his time writing scripts and meditating.

A Riot broke out at the 1996 Seattle International Film Festival when Switchblade Sisters was screened. Apparantly a few female viewers thought the movie was sexist and hailed abuse at director Jack Hill.

F.X. Maier the Famous script writer of Switchblade Sisters is now the editor of two major Catholic newspapers, apparentley there have been strong rumours of him stating that he regrets writing the movie.

The Actress whom played Lace's mother in the movie, is actually Robbie Lee's real life mother.

In 1986 When Switchblade Sisters was originally released to home video in the UK, The BBFC (British Board Of Film Classification) Cut 8 seconds from the original 91 minutes, removing the shot of the lighted cigarette been burned in to Maggie's navel. This cut was subsequently waved when the film was given a limited cinema re-release In 1999. The Uncut version has now been approved for DVD release in the UK.
