Biography:

Raised on the mean streets of Metro City, Cody Travers is as tough as they come. Orphaned by his parents at a very early age, Cody was an extremely troubled youth with a propensity for street fighting. After being bounced from foster home to foster home for nearly two years, Cody eventually found his way to a safehouse funded by Metro City’s then-newly elected mayor, Mike Haggar.

Inspired by the fire in the young boy’s eyes, Haggar personally took Cody under his wing. Hoping to give him an outlet in which to channel his rage, he enrolled Cody in a kickboxing class and allowed him to stay at his home, free-of-charge. It was there that Cody first met Haggar’s daughter, Jessica, and the first sparks of romance followed soon after. In time, Cody became something of a surrogate son to Haggar, and Cody remained grateful for all that the mayor had done for him.

As a kickboxer, Cody was a natural talent. He quickly rose to the top of his class and even competed on the national level, winning two consecutive championships in his first two years on the circuit. Then one day, a dark-haired young man dressed in an orange gi wandered into the Metro City gym, looking for someone with whom to test his skills. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Cody readily accepted. In the next few moments, the two men put on a clinic, dazzling the other fighters with a speed and grace like none had ever seen before. Following an arduous twenty-minute exhibition, the two men fought to a standstill. With respect gleaming in his peaceful brown eyes, the stranger introduced himself as Guy, and a new friendship was born. Together, Cody and Guy were instrumental in bringing down the Mad Gear gang and rescuing Jessica from the clutches of Adolus Belger.

After the downfall of Mad Gear’s notorious kingpin, the heroes of Final Fight went their separate ways. Guy returned to his rigorous training schedule, and Mike Haggar made his successful comeback to the squared circle. Left without direction, Cody’s life fell into disarray. The fight with the Mad Gear had sparked something inside of him, an old flame he had abandoned long ago. He said goodbye to Jessica and returned to the streets, determined to rout out any surviving members of Mad Gear. Though his intentions--if not his means--were noble at first, Cody’s turbulent nature led him back to his street fighting roots, the results of which quickly landed him in jail.

Now a fugitive on the run, Cody wanders the streets in search of the man he once was. But only time will tell if he will ever find himself again.
