Biography:
Over the years, Japanese culture has left an indelible imprint on the American way of life. From manga and anime to state-of-the-art stereos and video games, Japan has played an important role in cultivating our day-to-day lifestyles, and as Americans, we appreciate the contributions they have made to our society.
But there are those among us who've learned to appreciate the Japanese for much more than their exports. Indeed, some people have begun to take an interest in the spiritual side of Japanese culture, seeking to one day become as enlightened as our friends from the Land of the Rising Sun.
So it was in the case of Sodom, the Mad Gear's notorious katana-wielding assassin. Although born and raised in the United States, he became fascinated with Eastern philosophy during his early teenage years, and had often dreamed about taking a trip to the Far East. Following his senior year of high school, his wealthy parents bestowed upon him the best graduation present he ever could have hoped for: A six-month vacation in Japan.
Though life in the Orient was considerably different than life in America, Sodom wasted little time, immersing himself in all the rich, Japanese culture. A devout student of the martial arts, he spent the bulk of his vacation in training, honing his skills under the tutelage of numerous Japanese weapon masters.
But while Sodom wanted nothing more than to become Japanese, in the mirror, he was still as American as ever. Disheartened, he returned to the States in the guise of a samurai, bound and determined to live out his fantasy. Unfortunately, his affluent parents wanted nothing to do with his deviant behavior and promptly banished him from their home. A few years later, Sodom joined up with Mad Gear and took control of Metro City's subway.
Since the destruction of Mad Gear, Sodom has drifted between the United States and Japan, seeking to affirm his status as one of the world's greatest warriors. Though American in appearance, he still holds himself out to be Japanese, and takes great offense when anyone refers to him otherwise.
