According to The Illustrated Dinosaur Movie Guide: "Originally conceived by Willis O’Brien and Ray Harryhausen as a 1949 Paramount project, the highlight of which was to be a battle between an allosaurus and a bull. The story, minus the dinosaurs, became the basis of THE BRAVE ONE (1956)." An all stop-motion puppet film of the original story was finally made in 1975.
