A remake of the classic KING KONG VS. GODZILLA was in the works for Godzilla’s 50th anniversary, but was set aside when the owners of King Kong asked for more money for the rights to Kong than Toho was willing to pay. Apparently, this was a fairly straight-forward remake storywise.
