According to The Illustrated Dinosaur Movie Guide: "Director Harry O. Hoyt and special effects expert Fred Jackman reteamed (from The Lost World (1925)) to find a studio which would back this prehistoric epic. Twenty-five dinosaurs were built at a cost of $600 each, and Jackman shot two reels of stop-motion animation before sponsor Harry Cohn withdrew his support. Two years later it was revived as a Technicolor production with new dinosaurs created by Walter Lantz and Edward Nassour. Columbia again halted production and the film was never completed."
