Galilean Fisherman (Free) School [AA490] 91 East Street, Annapolis Operated from 1869 to about 1900, the school has been described as the oldest school in continuous use for the education of black children in 19th century Anne Arundel County. The Free School was founded by a group of African American Methodist laymen known as the Order of Galilean Fisherman. The school was never a part of the public school system of Anne Arundel County.
