Special Teams
We have three Special Teams here at FL-51. Color Guard,
Drill Team, and Sabre Team.
Color Guard
This is probably the busiest group. This elite group
has the honor of presenting and posting the national
and state colors at important school and community
functions. This co-curricular activity provides an
oppurtunity for cadets to learn how the national and
state flags must be respected and presented.
Distinctive uniform items such as ascots, chords, and
belts w/silver buckles are worn. In the past there has
been two under- classmen teams, and one senior team,
but this year we have 4 underclassmen teams and one
senior team.
Drill Team
Much effort is required for this activity. This is a
chance to polish the basic skills learned in the first
couple of years of the program. Practice will be
conducted after school as required. Learning of the
manual arms, extreme concentration, complete compliance
with drill team commander's commands, extra care of the
uniform, the desire of public recognition, and
individual desire will limit these two activities to
only the finest, most hard working cadets in the
organization.
Sabre Team
This team is also a very elite and precise group of
cadets. This team provides a team of cadets for a
sabre arch for parties, weddings, the school's
Homecoming court, etc. Disctinctive uniform items
include ascots, belts, and sabres.
