Deciding to begin taking piano lessons is a big step. Many students (and parents, too) are not too sure what will be involved in piano lessons and what will be expected of them.
Who Can Learn to Play the Piano?
Anyone can learn to play the piano, but certain individuals are more likely to succeed.
- Age is the least important characteristic, but for private lessons, a child should be able to read and do simple math. There is no maximum age! (Interested in lessons for younger children? Contact me right away! Special Group Lessons begin in September!)
- More important characteristics include having a structured home life, a willingness to be disciplined to practice daily, and an open mind to learning.
- Parents can have a huge impact on the success of their child if they will be willing to monitor their progress daily and be supportive, not critical.
