The big change was to come in 1994,when a brandnew,six-volume OAV series,Dirty Pair Flash,debuted.A prequel of sorts,Drity Pair Flash goes right to the beginning of the Pair's career and retells their tale--something like all those "restarts" the Marvel and D.C. comic universes have been experiencing lately.But even more startling than the conceptof retrofitting the DP universe,is the change in the design style. Details of this new Pair revamp include completely new character desings by Takahiro Kimura.Instead of the ebony tresses of old,Yuri's hair is now a fall of waist-lenght violet(rather like Shampoo's in Ranma 1/2,while Kei sports a fashionable two-tone tousled mop,with gravity-defing bangs.DP Flash also adds the wrinkle of Sailor Moon style transformation sequences (triggered by a secret feature in thir bracelets!)for the Pair to change into their new,funkier costumes made of "memory fabric," capable of "remembering" the shape they were in last and reverting back to it in an instant.(Hmmm...unstable molecules,anyone?)The new fashion statement is almost riot grrl,with loose-fitting shorts and tops with strategic cutouts and sensible boots,owing more to the Fly Girls and hip-hop fashion than the Bond-girl vogue of the classic Pair.{I dont see the Hip-Hop influence bit that is my opinion.}
