~*Chapter XVII*~

Holding hands, Brian and Candy were walking to the Eiffel Tower with Nick and Elisa a few feet ahead of them. AJ and Samantha were wandering around in Paris on their own. Who knows what they were up to? "Wow. I've been to Paris several times before, but with you beside me the vibes are much more magical," Brian said to Candy.

Candy blushed. "Yeah, I feel the same." Candy looked up at the grand tower they were approaching. When they arrived, she noticed it was practically empty except for a few couples hanging around what appeared to be the center of romance. "Too bad we can't go up there." The ticket booth was locked and the lifts weren't operating.

"Oh well. It's just as beautiful down here," Brian cheered her up. He led her to a small bench nearby, yet far enough from Nick and Elisa to have some privacy. In a few hours, it would be sunrise. The start of a new day, but for now the full moon was still the brightest in the dark sky. Brian and Candy had many minutes of fine conversation and many minutes of meaningful silence. Nick and Elisa returned to the hotel. And that's when Candy didn't want the moment to pass her. Before the first ray of sun could show its head, she hesitated, rested her head on his chest, and quickly asked what she had been longing to ask Brian all night. "Brian, will you be my Burger King?"

Brian laughed. To clarify her seriousness, she continued, "You have taught me so much. We have been through ups and downs together. Through it all, we still survive. I've thought this through for a very long time...Brian, will you marry me?"

A million things rushed through his mind. He loved her so much, but his parents just as well as hers would probably not approve of it. She was a Muslim and he was a Christian, and although they had spent a lot of time together...marriage had to be out of the question. But he couldn't resist to her sweet voice, angelic smile...and the cute proposal.

"I'll be your Burger King if you'll be my Dairy Queen," he said.

Her eyes lit up. She couldn't believe it! He just accepted. "I'm forever your Dairy Queen, Bri." She hugged him, and he started to cry tears of happiness, disbelief, and relief. "You know what? I was never this sentimental until I met you. I guess you taught me a few things yourself."

She smiled. "So, are we telling anyone about this or do you want to keep it low for now?"

"I don't mind telling them. Just as long as we don't tell my parents just yet."

"Yeah. Definitely."

Brian laughed. This was all too fast and too weird. "So, are we like eloping?"

"If that's what you want to call it, then yeah I guess." The early morning's first light began to shine. "We better head back."

Brian agreed. It's been an amazingly long day, and it all turned out for the best. Or did it?
