"She proposed?!! What do you mean she proposed?!" AJ asked in disbelief.
"Yes, she proposed and I don't know what to do!" Brian sat on AJ's bed and rested his head in his hands.
"Well there's not much you can do! You did say 'yes'!"
"AJ, I came to you for some comfort and reassurance, not to hear you state the obvious."
AJ who was still in his bathrobe couldn't understand why Brian chose him to be the first to know. He wished he could do something to help his friend out, but this was serious...and AJ wasn't much of an advisor. "I know, I'm sorry Bri, but I don't understand. You do love her, don't you?"
Looking up at AJ, Brian replied, "AJ! I can't believe you'd even ask me that. Of course I love her."
AJ was confused now. Throwing his arms up, he asked, "Then what's the problem?"
After a hesitation Brian said, "I guess I just want to hear you say that I'm doing the right thing...that Candy and I belong together...and that it doesn't matter what backgrounds we come from. And that I should marry her."
"Ditto. Bri, I couldn't have said that better. Honestly, if you both love each other, go for it man!"
"You don't think it's going too fast? I mean you and Samantha love each other but you're not married."
"Well, it's your call buddy. I think Candy just feels insecure and she needs you more than Samantha needs me. She wants to know you're going to be there for her forever."
"But I am."
"Tell her. If you think she's going too fast, she should know too. You're fifty percent of this relationship, you know?"
"Yeah, I know. But I don't want to disappoint her. I don't want her to be upset."
"Communication is essential in any relationship. You should talk to her and tell her how you feel or else you'll be miserable the rest of your life."
"Ai-ight. Thanks AJ." Brian just sat there thinking. I love Candy and if we got married, I know I wouldn't be miserable for the rest of my life. But what would the fans think if they found out? Isn't it a bit too early for marriage? How can I get through to Candy without hurting her?
Knock, knock! Knock, knock!
Awake in bed now, Elisa could feel Nick's bare arms wrapped around her. Last night's events lingered in her head. After their little walk to the Eiffel Tower, Nick and Elisa had returned to the hotel room. They had talked about having sex before, and Paris was the right place for that special night. AJ had provided Nick with protection earlier that day. Once in the hotel room, they ordered some wine and from then on, everything was a blur to Elisa. All she remembered was that it was good and she smiled slyly at the thought.
Knock, knock! Knock, knock!!
By now Nick was awake. He kissed Elisa on her head. "How'd you sleep?"
"Pretty good. And you?"
"I couldn't sleep. I was too busy thinking about how sexy you are," he whispered.
Elisa laughed. "You were sleeping like a baby! What do you mean you couldn't sleep?"
KNOCK! KNOCK!!
"Damn door! WHAT?!" Nick yelled, getting up to answer the door. He grabbed a robe on his way.
Elisa lay in bed trying to relive last night but something caught her eye. Sitting up to get a better look Elisa reached over at the night table and picked up a little yellow plastic packet. Her head started to throb and the room started to spin. They hadn't used protection. But why? Would Nick do this on purpose? What was going on?
Elisa heard Nick shut the door and walk back into the room. "Elisa? You ok?"
Elisa turned around to face him. Softly she replied, "Yeah. I'm fine." She decided she wouldn't tell him. She didn't want to make a big deal out of it.
"That was just Kev. He said we should get dressed and go downstairs for breakfast. Apparently, there's some big news that's gonna be announced. I'm gonna be in the shower if you need me," he said, heading to the bathroom.
"Yeah, ok." All of a sudden, feeling nauseated, Elisa chose she needed to talk to someone. And this time, Nick wouldn't be the right one. Quickly getting dressed, she made her way to the door and let it click shut behind her.
