Kara opened the door to her house. She could already hear the phone ringing. She shut the door behind her, set down her stuff on the couch, and ran to pick it up. "Hello?"
"Hey! It's AJ."
Kara knew it was him even before he mentioned it. He had that sexy raspy voice. She laughed, "How long have you been calling?"
"Not long," he said innocently.
"Uh-huh. I just got home and my phone was ringing!"
"Oh really? What time do you usually get back from work?"
"5:30 PM."
"Oh, OK. So what'd you do during the two hours after work?"
OK, it's now or never, Kara thought. "Not much...I broke up with my boyfriend," Kara said sadly.
"What? You broke up with him? What happened? This has nothing to do with me, does it?"
"No, not at all! It's just that I've realized we've been going out for a long time...and I guess I'm starting to lose interest in him."
"I'm sorry."
"It's OK."
"So, would it be safe if I asked you if you'd go out with me again?"
Kara giggled. "Definitely."
"My friend's throwing a party tomorrow night. Would that be alright?"
"Sure," Kara answered. She wasn't ready to be alone with him though. What if he made a move on her? That would be too weird! "Would it be all right if Jenny and Alexis came along too?"
AJ wanted to be with Kara, and Kara alone. But what could he say? "Yeah, that's fine. I guess I'll ask Brian and Nick if they want to come along too."
"Sounds good." Kara just hoped Alexis and Jenny wouldn't get along too well with Brian and Nick...because that would ruin the whole point of them coming along in the first place.
"So, I'll call you back later!"
"OK! Bye."
The Next Day
"So, did he phone?" Jenny asked Kara on the phone.
"Yeah, and I told him I broke up with my boyfriend. So we're going out tonight."
"That's awesome!"
"Yeah, and Alexis and you are coming along...and Brian and Nick might too."
"We are?"
"Jenny, I'm not ready to be alone with him yet, if you know what I mean. We're going to his friend's party and if there's alcohol, I'd really like someone I can rely on to make sure I don't do anything stupid."
Jenny sighed. "OK. But you better tell Alexis soon."
"Thanks! I will! I'll phone her right now. So, I'll see ya at seven over here."
"Yup! Laterz hun!"
Kara hung up and dialed Alexis' number.
"Hello?" Alexis answered after two rings.
"Hey Alexis."
"Hey Kara! How's it going with AJ?"
"Great. We're going out tonight! And I was wondering if you could come along too. Jenny's coming, and Brian and Nick might too. I just need someone to look out for me if there's gonna be alcohol at the party."
"Yeah, I guess I'll come along but you gotta start looking out for yourself...alcohol or no alcohol!"
"I can take care of myself but AJ is so unpredictable! You never know what he's gonna do next."
"True. So where exactly are we going and when?"
"We'll meet over here at my place at seven, and we're going to AJ's friend's party."
"Alright. I'll see ya then!"
"See ya!"
That Night
AJ, Nick, and Brian were waiting in the lounge of Kara's house for Jenny and Alexis to arrive, so they could all take AJ's jeep and drive over to the party. "Man, they said they'd be here at seven! Facts are facts, y'know? And it's been fifteen minutes!" Brian laughed to lighten the atmosphere.
"They'll be here soon. They're always a few minutes late," Kara reassured them.
"A few?" Nick stressed.
Just then, the doorbell rang. "Speaking of the devils..." Kara ran to get the door. She looked through the peephole first. "Yup, it's them!" She opened the door. "Hey chicas!"
"Hey guys!" Jenny greeted.
"Sorry we're a bit late," Alexis apologized. Kara noticed Alexis had taken extra time to make herself over today. She had a crude personality. Her eyes were a darting grey, her lips thick and sexy, and her hair jet black. She was wearing a short silvery skirt with a black tank top. Alexis looked great as usual.
"Don't worry about it," AJ said. "So, let's get going!" he said leading them out the door to the jeep.
In The Car
AJ was driving the car with Kara sitting by his side in the passenger's seat. After a few minutes of fine conversation, AJ said, "We need some music." He searched through the many cassettes and CDs in the glove compartment. He pulled out an unfamiliar cassette tape. "What's this?" He popped it into the stereo and twisted the volume dial.
He could hear two familiar voices. "How old are you?" one was asking, his voice slurred as if he had been drinking.
"Eighteen," the girl crooned.
Wet kisses and lots of heavy breathing followed. "What the f*ck is this?" AJ asked in embarrassment.
Nick, Brian, Jenny, and Alexis were up in hysterics. Kara didn't think it was funny, but she couldn't help giving out a little chuckle.
"Have you done this before?" the first voice asked.
"Yeah, this afternoon."
"With who?"
"Some jerk."
The realization hit AJ and he almost went off the road. It was Brian! He was a master at imitations. The others, except perhaps Nick, didn't know that. Clothes rustled and stretched through the speakers. Zippers slowly pulled down. This was too hot!
"Let me do that." The "girl" sighed. "Oh that's nice. Oh, I like that."
"Ain't I great?"
"I've heard you're the best." The girl groaned.
"You heard right baby," the guy whispered. "I love you Kara."
The laughter grew louder, and Kara's face turned a beet red. "What the hell was that?!"
AJ stopped the tape and threw it at Brian in the back seat. "Perverted B!"
"I'm so sorry Kara. I hope you're not mad. Nick and I just thought it was funny. It was AJ we meant to embarrass. Honest!" Brian said.
"It's OK. I can take a joke," Kara said. She could take a joke, but the last thing she wanted to think about was having sex with AJ. And that was no joke.
