General comments : Mondavi family is well known is the wine industry. Rober Mondavi Jr (grandson of Rob Mondavi Sr.) came up with a great cigar line.
Like for their wines, the Mondavi family will work a lot on value for money quality. We had a great example with this cigar.

2nd third is long...Ash holds like glue to my stogy. Despite its look it is a mild cigar. Flavors are bouncing from spices to flowers.

In the second hour of smoking this huge stick everything is good. Burning is perfect; my double corona is now a robusto. Smooth finish on palate.
2/2 points
Total points : 9.5/10
General comments : Another Winner from Fuente. It says on the box :"We Will Never Rush The Hands Of Time". Nothing can be more relevant for this 3 hours smoke. Fuente produces his cigars like Cubans. All fuente are Puros, it means that filler is 100% Dominican and they are not blended. Price is very reasonable for this Double Corona.
Bought in November 97 at CigarSource. Stored in large humidor since.
I am stunned by the box which is a perfect copy of the Cuban box.
size : 6" * 50
Wrapper, appearance and construction : Clear brown wrapper, no veins, this particular box is full of broken wrapper cigars. I do not know if this is due to quality standarts or prior storing conditions.
0.5/2 points
Smoking it : Good lighting, tight draw, difficulties in burning. Tasteless. Flat.
1/3 points
2nd third no more exciting. No aromas. Drawing is getting impossible.
0.5/3 points
What can be worst for the end ? Cigar is falling apart. I am breathlesss because of pumping too hard. Did not finish it!

General comments : I was going to say over-rated !! The only true positive thing to say about this cigar is "well balanced" from lighting to throwing : nothing, no taste.

General comments : Good bargain. Light cigar for newcomers or cigarette smokers. With some quality improvment to come, Tamboril is a brand to follow.
A gift from my father who brought me a full set of
Diamond Crown. He bought them in San Jose at Mission Pipe. I've read that
Diamond Crown are "impossible to find" kind of cigars. They are made by
Tabacalera Fuente for JC Newman. All cigars are 54 ring gauge.

Wrapper, appearance and construction : Light colorado
color, perfect wrapper, heavy cigar. Looks tight but not rough.
2/2 points

No complexity as smoking continues but floral aromas
and great smell give a superb dimension to the smoke. Long white ash holding
hard.
2.5/3 points
Last part is long lasting. No toxicity found and
drawing is still smooth. A little overheated at the end but it must be
me trying to get to much of this wonderful smoke.
2/2 points
Total points : 9/10
General comments : Two thumbs up for this
stogy. Worth its reputation. In somehow this Diamond Crown is very similar
to cuban cigars by its good construction and well balanced flavors. At
no doubt a winner.
A box of 8-9-8 Robusto. I heard a lot about those
and it got me curious enough to try them.
size : 5 1/2" * 52
Wrapper, appearance and construction : Deep brown
wrapper, some irregularities, good grip. Loose wrapper in some points.
1/2 points
Smoking it : Easy lighting, good draw, even burning.
Medium bodied cigar. Some earthy aromas but I can feel a bothering flavor.
2/3 points
2nd third underline this strange flavor. Its a kind
of gummy taste maybe from cellophane. Even burning.
2/3 points
Last part of this smoke is equally balanced between
good aromas (a bit spicy) and the plastic taste (due to poor aging?).
1.5/2 points
Total points : 6.5/10
General comments : Above average for a cigar
that could be much better. Minor changes in aging and packing should increase
its rating from 1 to 2 pts. The Indonesian wrapper has some problems sticking
to the binder. But in general a fair smoke for this new brand. Two year
aged dominican Tobacco is one of the best filler available today. Keep
going !!

Bought around $10/piece. Not aged. Another Arturo Fuente product.
size : 5 1/8" * 43

2.5/3 points
At mid cigar burning is fairly even. Herbal, leather and cocoa flavors. Medium strenght and body.
2.5/3 points
Last third: Smooth quality, cigar is getting hot towards the end. Good balance and harmony.
1.5/2 points
Total points : 8.5/10
General comments : Started tight because too small cut, small opening. Tobacco + leahter notes are heavy. Some creamy notes near medium-end. Will buy more.
