ok...I updated this page. I changed it....it's new! My aunt sent me some quotes, and since I liked a lot of them, I decided I'd share them with you people out there reading this. I know how much people hate getting FWDs sooooo I figured this would be better. There's no logical order...I just like these things. Of course, I kept my Patrick Henry interpretation up. It's at the very end though because I'm sure you all are so sick of reading about it. hehe Well, anyhoo, I hope that these quotes can serve as a function for something. Maybe you need to get your feelings out but don't know how. Maybe you're angry and this will help you to convey your thoughts better. Maybe you're just feeling like crap and you want something to make like you're not alone....whatever it is, I hope you find it here. If not...well, at least I tried. hehe Have fun!
"Don't marry someone you can live with. Marry someone you can't live without"
"Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers."
"Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship."
"In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Don't bring up the past."
"The heart has reasons that reason does not understand."
"The courses of true love never did run smooth"
Ok, this a historical speech that I was forced to read in my literature book for English homework my junior year in highschool. ICKY!! But even though its something educational, doesn't mean that it can't mean something. I extracted (big word huh? hee hee) this quote from the "Speech in the Virginia Convention" given by Patrick Henry. He's addressing it to the President on behalf of those who wish to fight a war against Britain for freedom. This lil part reminded me somewhat of myself because I do this a lot.
"...it is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth, and listen to the song of that siren till she transforms us into beasts. Is this the part of wise men, engaged in a great and ardurous struggle for liberty? Are we disposed to be of the number of those who having eyes see not, and having ears hear not...?"
What Henry is trying to say is that many people choose not to face the fact that life isn't always easy. And for those of us who are wimps and can't stand to see the wrong and hurt and etc etc, we pull ourselves into a little dream world to protect ourselves. It's kinda like we make a bubble around us that fogs the outside and we just sit around and play Candyland all day in there. It's daydreaming. It's a sort of defense mechanism (dm) that people use....called escape. Being an expert of the dm escape, I'd like to say that ...it doesn't always work because when your bubble is popped...Candyland is gone...and your stuck playing the game of Life.
