BEVERLY HILLS COP 4

Release date:Unknown.

You read the title right! Back in June 1997 Jerry Bruckheimer and Eddie Murphy were in talks of resurrecting the Beverly Hills Cop franchise. Despite the disappointing box office intake of Beverly Hills Cop III, Murphy is interested in reprising his role as the out of control Detroit cop Axel Foley who can't keep his head out of Beverly Hills. And since Jerry Bruckheimer (ARMAGEDDON) and Eddie Murphy (Nutty Professer, Dr. Dolittle) are back on top of the box office, now is the right time for a Beverly Hills Cop sequel. One suggestion, Jerry: if the Beverly Hills Cop theme has to be remixed & remade, don't let Puff Daddy do it.

PLOT: Dark Horizons reported back in January of a possible outline to Beverly Hills Cop 4. Axel Foley returns in Beverly Hills after a 5 year hiatus, and a corrupt government is knocking down neighborhoods to make way for new, high-tech monotrains and monorails. But what's really happening is that the monotrains aren't just transporting people. They're transporting illegal drugs, weapons and sneaking international terrorists into Beverly Hills. So what a Beverly Hills Cop to do? Simple: be the Beverly Hills Cop he's always been and kick some ass!

THE RUMORS These rumors have been sent through various e-mail and also have been sent through our reliable sources. We've been holding these back for a while now, so read them for what they're worth!

*Judge Reinhold (Beverly Hills Cop Trilogy) may return

*Hector Elizando's character (from Beverly Hills Cop III) may return

*Ron Perlman (Alien Resurrection) will be the lead villain. This is an old rumor that's been swarming around ever since the project announcment.

*Action will take place inside, outside and on top(!) of the faster-than-light monotrains

*As usual, one of Axel Foley's partners will get killed off in the film's opening, giving Foley a free ride to Beverly Hills

*Eddie Murphy may go back to his comedic roots and joke a lot more, mixing lots of laughs with highly stylized action

***COMMENTS:Though Murphy hasn't been that lucky with action lately (think METRO), it's because he doesn't bring any of his unique humor to his action heroes. That is why Beverly Hills Cop made over $200 million, because he made everyone laugh. Beverly Hills II did $90 million or more but wasn't the critical or commercial success as the original. And Beverly Hills COP III....let's not talk about that because Simpson and Bruckheimer had NOTHING to do with it. Hopefully Jerry Bruckheimer will bring more humor to the franchise to keep the action fresh and furiously fast. Murphy hasn't had a solid action/comedy hit since the first two Beverly Hills Cops. This HAS to do it.
