Rumored to have Stanley Goodspeed on the run because he has the stolen microfilm and the FBI is after it. He is basically a wanted man and the FBI sends deadly mercanaries after him, one which is the main villian who will do anything to get his hands on the microfilm. Enter John Mason, a free man. He knew that Goodspeed was gonna get in deep for having the film. Goodspeed teams up with Mason and they mainly dodge and kick the mercanarie's butts. The villain kidnaps Goodspeed's girlfriend and her newborn baby, then he kidnaps Mason's daughter. He brings Goodspeed's girlfriend, the baby, and Mason's daughter to Alcatraz and holds them hostage, and asks Goodspeed for the microfilm as a ransom. Goodspeed and Mason go back to Alcatraz in the climax and then from there on, it's up to them.

6/11/98-This is still on Touchstone's summer 1999 schedule, and rumor has it talks between Cage and Bruckheimer ar are coming along smoothly.
5/6/98-A CHIP OFF THE OLD ROCK: That subtitle "Poisoned Minerals" will not go away! New rumors surfacing say that the mercanaries after Goodspeed threaten to unleash poisonous, deadly minerals into the water near Alcatraz that will poison the San Franciscan's drinking water and will eventually spread to the shores of the city, sink into the ground and poison everything in its path if Goodspeed does not give up the microfilm....where do they get the minerals? From little bits of none other than The Rock itself.....we think this sounds kinda nifty.
4/24/98-Nick Cage is out of work ever since SUPERMAN was delayed, so let's hope ROCK 2 will make it to the light of day.
3/16/98-We have new information on the Rock 2...close sources say that the re-writes are rumoured to have flashbacks of Mason when he was a British spy, stealing the microfilm! If this proves to be true, it'll be way beyond awesome! Just imagine Sean Connery bringing his James Bond-ish character to the John Mason character! Let's just hope he'll still have his wonderful gadgets...
3/11/98-Some new info on ROCK 2: it appears that there will be a script rewrite to "patch" up the plot holes that was in the first draft of the script our source read...also, its sub-title "Poisoned Minerals" is going to bite the dust, but the rewrite may add a sub-plot: Somewhere inside Alcatraz, there is a deadly chemical substance a.k.a. 'poisoned minerals' that can wipe out the entire Western seaboard and the only way it can be stopped is in the microfilm Goodspeed has...sounds pretty cool.
