Creation Museum

Creation Museum and Ark Encounter

Is there any better way to start a road trip than lunch at Linda’s? On our way to the hotel in Lawrenceburg, IN. Tomorrow’s adventure is the magnificent Creation Museum
The adventure begins … enjoying specialty omelettes at Howie’s Diner. With extra sides of bacon. On our way to Ken Ham’s magnificent Creation Museum.

Amazing, awesome, encouraging and inspiring day today at the Creation Museum. So very blessed to have shared this experience with Drewbee and my mom.

At the Creation Museum we rented a motorized wheelchair so Mom Mom could view all the exhibits (indoors and out) without having to walk. We went to the outdoor exhibits first – there Drew fed some of the animals before heading to see the gardens. Once inside we went to the Planetarium show, the “4D Creation Show, toured the other exhibits (including a “pro-life” one) and listened to Tom Meyer’s “dramatic recitation” (from memory!) of Genesis 1 and Hebrews 11. We watched a video presentation of the gospel based on the story of Creation, got snacks at “Noah’s Café” and t-shirts, a souvenir hat, books (and a free coffee mug with magazine subscription) at the gift shop. When we left we went to a pizza shop (Tom had researched to find one that had cauliflower pizza) to get pizza to eat in our room.

We are now regulars at Howie’s Diner. Figured we would “fossil fuel” up here.

At Ark Encounter! The incredible attention to detail to God’s Word is phenomenal. Drew was engaged all day with the many exhibits throughout the Ark.

Starting our approach to the Ark.
No picture can convey how colossal it really is in person.
Mom thought this close up view of the Ark
might convey the size it is in person.

We rented a motorized wheelchair again for our trip to the Ark Encounter. It was hard to get a picture to show how enormous the ark really was. It was great to have the wheelchair since it involved a lot of walking! We saw two excellent movies there dramatizing a “reporter” interviewing Noah when the Ark was being built and later, interviewing another “Noah” in the present day. She asked questions that people might have asked then and today. “Noah” provided answers to satisfy skeptics both then and now.
We watched a “virtual reality” show there, that was so much fun! The exhibits were so well done; and Mom Mom was surprised to find one about the “Endurance” – the Antarctic expedition ship that she had just been reading about in a book that Becky had loaned her.

The first two nights we stayed at the Hollywood Casino hotel in Lawrenceburg, IN. I would not recommend it to anyone even though it appears promising at first glance. After that we stayed at the Ramada Inn but that was not any better. Our free continental breakfast at that hotel was … unanimously decided to “pass.” As we exited we saw a billboard “Sunset Grill voted best in Warsaw, Kentucky.” Unanimously we decided to go eat breakfast overlooking the mighty Ohio River. Great decision! Well worth the 10 minute scenic route in opposite direction of Crossville. We made it home in time to have dinner with Laurie at Linda’s Coffee Shop. (We love that place!)
