Konichiwa! Say what?!
How many times have you gone to a Sailormoon site, and seen words that are certainly not in the English language? If you’ve had this happen, and you didn’t know what the words meant then you’re a victim of excess Japanese. You see excess Japanese happens when a webmaster goes beyond putting just Sailormoon related Japanese words on their site. These words for example can be Konichiwa, arigato, gomen, and otaku to name a few. The problem here is that some webmasters don’t realize there are a vast number of people who know absolutely no Japanese. So these webmasters just toss around Japanese totally oblivious to their visitors who are left scratching their heads.
You’d think that it would just be easier to write Hi instead of Konichiwa right? Well some people have been fooled to believe that it’s cool to write Konichwa, cause all, "All the popular site do it!". SO what if a popular site says Konichiwa on its main page, or arigato at the bottom of a disclaimer! Do you seriously think that these sites are popular cause they’ve got Japanese on their pages? No, it’s cause they’ve got original content. So please before you put up that oh so cute Japanese phrase, remember the fans who don’t know their youma from their Yogi Bear.
Arigato!! I mean, Thank You!
