Moon Circle - Clique, or just a group of united friends?
Moon Circle HQ

Clique - A narrow exclusive circle or group of persons: esp: one held together by a presumed identity of interests view, or purposes.
The following will contain snippets from the Moon Circle webpage in normal, and my comments in italic.

On Usako-chan's many explorations of the world wide web, she ran into many Sailormoon web pages that she thought were beautiful and had excellent content. But looking upon their counters and web stats, saw that these pretty sites weren't as well frequented as they deserved.
Sounds like a noble cause, although just because they're 'pretty' doesn't necessarily mean they deserve hits.
So Usako chose ten of these sites and asked if they'd like to form a group of friends with common interests ... more specifically, Sailormoon. Many accepted this invitation and invited other sites to join. In total, seventeen sites currently make up the Moon Circle.
Ok, she wanted to form a group of friends? Friends just become friends, you don't go out and hunt them down to form a group of them. So let's see that's 17 friends, who were hunted down to 'become' friends.
The Moon Circle isn't a group of elitists, or people who want to be elitists. We are just a group of friends who want to show people new and different insights into the Sailormoon world, who want to meet new people in the Sailormoon Community and to form friendships ... hey, maybe learn something new. We try to be as friendly as possible and are willing to help those who approach us.
Not a group of elitists? Who said you were? Elitists label themselves, they're not labeled by others. From the jest of this paragraph I detect a hint of clique. Just a hint.
We're aren't just about Sailormoon. We enjoy many different animes which include Shoujo Kakumei Utena, Magic Knight Rayearth, Fushigi Yuugi and Serial Experiments: lain. With the original members slow descent from interest in just Sailormoon, it appears that we've become the Sailormoon group that grew up :)
Then why do you keep saying, "Sailormoon community this", and "Sailormoon that". Make up your mind for God's sake! Do you specify in one anime or not? Ohh ::blinks:: what's this I see? You're the Sailormoon group that grew up?! What is this suppose to mean? That the rest of us are immature compared to you? :) Boy that kind of sounds like you're trying to disassociate yourselves with Sailormoon because it's now 'immature' compared to Utena, Rayearth, Fushigi Yuugi, and (cheers) Serial Experiments: Lain (good series).
The Moon Circle is just sixteen average sites. It's the sixteen not-so-average people behind the sites that matter. After all, the average person isn't.
Just 16 average sites? You said 17 above.. Errrr.. Moving on, who said they're 16 not-so-average people? And who says the 'average' person can't make the same sites as these 16 (or 17) not-so-average people?

Now we'll have a look at their FAQ, joy!
It's sort of a "don't call us, we'll call you." thing.
So it's sort of a secret society that picks people whom they deem worthy? Sounds like a clique to me.
Q: Are you all wannabe elitists? A: No, we'd just like to be like Mike. *forgets which commercial that came from* But seriously, we're all part of a post-millennial cult that doesn't believe in elitism, worldly possessions, bathing or wearing socks with sandals..... we only engage in that sh*t after we inherit the earth like the meek we are. *winks conspiratorially at Jenni*
Ok, at least you answered the question.. Oh wait, ::chuckles, than his faces goes cold:: you didn't.. :|

Ok, I checked the rest of the site out, and the only other mild things that I find a bit odd are that the small amount of member bios they show (7 of 16/17) only GIRLS. Sexist? I really hope not.

Ok, that ends my study of the 'Moon Circle', and now I come to my conclusion.
The Moon Circle is a group that started out only wanting to help out a group of sites that one person thought were good. This person, Usako, collected 16/17 sites, and formed the Moon Circle. She declared their group non-cliquey, and non-elitist. However this seems to be only a mental cover-up for the Moon Circle. For the fact is they ARE a clique, although not Elitists (no one is Elitist, because we all know only Elitists care if they're Elite so there are no Elitists).
The Moon Circle lives in the shadow of the ominous truth which is that they are a clique whether they like it or not.
