From November 99 to March 2000 I have been a regular customer of VKLL fansubs. Thanks to them I have been able to see the entirety of the S series subbed and the first half of SuperS. Unfortunatly the evil that is Cloverway and Cartoon Network bought the rights to both seasons and had them dubbed. The real bad part was that I couldn't continue purchasing the SuperS fansubs. Yes I fealt cheated I had to wait til the SuperS aired on Cn to find out how it ended and I'm pretty sure it was better handed by fansubbers.I know now that you can purchase Subbed tapes of the S series at local retailer and now it is coming out on DVD, but alas I have to wait for SuperS, yet again.
12/28/01: Defence of Mars in the Dub.
Okay I admit I'm not a big fan of the dubs of Sailormoon but I will point out an injustic when it takes place. I have come across a lot of sites claiming Mars hates Serena inthe dub. Huh? Sure they fight a lot but that doesn't Mean Raye htes her. In the episode "Jupiter comes Thundering in." Lita points out that Raye and Serena must be close because they act like sisters. In "A reluctant princess." Sailormoon says that Mars has always hated her, but Mars said that wasnt true. In the following episode Raye even came into Serena's defence"Lay off Artemis, She just lost someone that she cares about."

Funimation getting involved?
So I heard it through the grapevine that Funimation may get the rights from Toei and redub Sailormoon. I am not sure how I feel on this level. I am not the biggest fan of Funimation, but they are not on notice either. I have seen a few comparison scenes with how Funimation redubbed work on Onepiece after 4Kids messed it up and I was amazed and if I was a fan of the anime I would have watched. Still this is a rumor, but if it is true then I would give the redub a chance. |
