Pasta
STOVE, Time: 12 to 15 min
Basics:
Use a large pot (2 qtr or 4 to 6 qt. Dutch Oven)
Bring water to boiling
Drop Pasta
2 TBL oil
2 TBL salt
STIR:
Stir until boiling and cover. Check every once in a while. Takes anywhere from 12 to 15 minutes to cook. Do not over cook, the pasta will stick together and become mush. Do not leave pasta sitting in water!
It will absorb the water and become mush.
TIPS
1) Always add a little oil to water so pasta doesn't stick. Before straining, pull out a strand from the pot and cut in half, it is done if soft all the way through.
2) After straining, keep in colander and add (tasting after each addition):
1 serving spoon of Margarine or Butter,
about 1/4 cup of oil,
garlic powder,
a little parsley.
Mix while still in the colander so excess drips out. Transfer to serving dish or back to the pot. It should be tasty enough to eat without the sauce.
