PUPS AT 12 DAYS OLD

Moose/Zena pups just before their eyes are completely open.

DEW CLAWS OFF TODAY

Puppies had their rear dewclaws off today at two days old.  Mom was very concerned, but settled down when none of the pups even whimpered.

All of the pups are still doing fine and are happily nursing as we write this.

PUPS ARE HERE!!

 Pup #1 (blue) - a dark fawn boy - weighing 28oz - arrived at 2:34pm on 6/9/11.

 Pup #2 (dk pink) - a red girl with white stockings & snip on nose - weighing 21.7oz - arrived at 3:45pm on 6/9/11.

Pup #3 (green) - a red boy with double dewclaws - weighing 25oz - arrived at 5:53pm on 6/9/11.

Pup #4 (lt pink) - a red girl - weighing 19.6oz - arrived at 7:52pm on 6/9/11.

Pup #5 (yellow) - a fawn boy - weighing 20.5oz - arrived by C-section the morning of 6/10/2011.

Pup #6 (white) - a red fawn boy - weighing 21.7oz - arrived by C-section the morning of 6/10/2011.

Pup #7 (no collar) - the smallest fawn boy - weighing 15.2oz - arrived by C-section the morning of 6/10/2011.

If anyone wasn't completely sure that Zena is pregnant ... I think this photo will remove all doubts!! LOL!!

 

ZENA'S X-RAYS SHOW PUPS!!

Took Zena in for the puppy count. They had to overlap 3 x-rays to get all her big belly in the view. Because of that it may not be completely accurate, but they saw at least 7 pups. Last time she had 2 more than they could see, so the best guess is 7-9 pups. Always seems we have a few more that hide behind the others, but at least we have an idea! Now comes the hardest part.....the wait!

We are very happy granddogmas!!

X-RAYS TOMORROW

Zena will go in tomorrow for X-Rays and we will let everyone know how things go.  Now that Moose has done his job, he is pretty much just sitting back and resting on his laurels! LOL!

THINGS ARE PROGRESSING

Zena is progressing in her pregnancy as expected.  She will go in next week for x-rays to see if we can get a puppy count.  Pups are expected on or about June 8th, so check back and we will post all the particulars right here!!

PUPPY BREATH IS ON IT'S WAY!!

IT'S OFFICIAL!! ZENA IS PREGGERS!!

Today is the 35th day since Zena was first bred.  We took her to the vets today to get a pregnancy test.  IT WAS POSITIVE!!  This means puppies are due on or about the 8th of June!!

Linda and I are thrilled ... the last Moose / Zena litter was so amazing that we can't wait to see this litter.

All of you expecting a pup from the upcoming litter can stop holding your breath now! <<grin>>

FOUR WEEKS SINCE BREEDING
It has been four weeks since the Moose/Zena breeding and we are getting close to the confirmation date ... should know for sure very soon.

Don't know if you guys are as excited about this breeding as we are, but we are waiting on tenderhooks to know if this breeding took!!

TWO WEEKS SINCE BREEDING
It has been two weeks since Zena was bred to Moose and she still looks amazing ... of course she recently blew her winter coat, so she is still growing her summer coat.  However, being pregnant always makes a coat look wonderful!   After the pups have been weaned ... not so much! LOL!

Second breeding took place today
The second breeding went off without any problems, so we are well and truly on our way to this second set of Zena & Moose super pups!!

Zena is in really good shape and will be watched carefully during this pregnancy to make sure she is have no problems along the way.

Again ... cross your fingers (and toes) that this litter is as amazing as last year's.

We did the first breeding today

Zena & Moose's first breeding today was by natural cover.  If this breeding took, we will be looking at pups about 63 days from today ... cross your fingers guys ....  we plan to do another live cover breeding tomorrow.

2011 Moose/Zena Litter - The Beginning

Zena went in today for a full checkup to get confirmation that she is healthy enough to do this breeding.  She passed with flying colors and we have certification from the doctor for her to be bred.
