Chapter 5

Tabitha sat Kelly down on one of the couches that were located in her dressing room. She walked over to the clothing rack and saw all of her outfits. Her first outfit was an oversized wool sweater and fitted flare jeans. She had wool socks, but no shoes for the first act. There was a piece of paper on the sweater and it said they would be filming the first act in the living room setting. Tabitha dressed for the first act and a make-up and hair woman came into her room.

"Hi Tabitha! I'm Sue. Are you ready to get your hair and make-up done?"

"Yeah!" Tabitha sat down in one of the chairs and let Sue do her job.

Tabitha's medium length hair was left down and the ends were softly curled. Her make-up was simple. A little bronzing powder was applied to touch up on the tan skin that Tabitha already had. Two coats of mascara were placed on her lashes to bring out her dark brown eyes. Then, the final touch was a mocha colored lip-gloss.

"Your all set! They want you out there." Sue said.

"Ok, wait. Can I bring my little sister out with me?"

"No, leave her in here with me! We'll have fun." Sue said nicely.

Tabitha walked out onto the set. It was air conditioned, so the cement floor was freezing. Tabitha caught a glimpse of all the camera crew. They were hard at work and she saw the back of a blonde head of hair sitting in a director chair. It was Nick.

"Hey Tabs! Did they treat you alright?" Nick said as he got up out of the chair.

"Yeah, Sue the make-up lady is really nice. She's taking care of Kelly."

"Oh, Kelly is in for a lot of fun! She'll probably come out looking like a star!"

The director led Tabitha out into the living room set. She was directed to sit on the leather couch and cuddle up with the wool blanket to Nick. The two of them sat next to each other on the couch and listened as the director told them what he wanted from them.

"Ok, now this is what I want! You two are in love. Nick, I want you to caress her cheek with one hand, and with the other play with her hair. The camera will get in on your face as your singing, Nick. Then we'll get in on Tabitha's. Tabitha, I want to feel your fear in commitment. I want to feel your fear in getting close. But, I want too see it in your eyes."

Nick and Tabitha got positioned on the leather couch. Nick pulled the large wool blanket over the two of them. He had done plenty of video's were he had to act in love with another girl. He wasn't nervous at all, but he sensed that Tabitha was.

"You alright?" Nick asked. "It's not a big deal. Just go with the flow of the song. If you end up hating the song, then it is my fault." Nick said while laughing.

"I'm sure I'll love the song. Just the whole 'emotion' thing, I don't know if I can do it."

"I think you can. In fact, I bet you'll get it right on the first take!"

"OK! AND CUE THE MUSIC!" The director yelled.

Open up… Your heart to me And say what's on your mind

The lights were dimmed and the fireplace was turned on. Nick did as he was directed. He lipped the words to the songs while caressing Tabitha's cheek and running his hands gently through her soft hair. Tabitha immediately calmed down. Maybe it was the fact that she had to stare into his blue eyes, or the touch of his hand on her face, but it worked. She tried her best to show her emotion through her eyes, and it worked.

I know that we have been Through so much pain But I still need you In my life, this time.

Tabitha let the song take over her completely. She honestly felt the emotion of the song and quickly picked up some acting skills. She put her hand up to Nick's and slowly pulled it off her face. Nick went along with it.

And I need you tonight I need you right now I know deep with in my heart It doesn't matter if it's wrong or right I really need you tonight.

"CUT!" The director yelled.

"Holy moly! That was awesome!" Tabitha beamed.

"You're telling me! Didn't you just say you weren't going to be able to do this?" Nick said while laughing.

"I guess I was wrong. That song really got to me!"

"Ok, Tabitha! Beautiful job! Now, go into the dressing room and change for the next scene."

**************************************************

Tabitha walked out of the dressing room in a completely different outfit. It was no longer the 'laid back' look. She was now in a knee length black skirt and a ¾ brown shirt with a low-neck line. Her hair was swept up in a messy knot, with wispy fly aways framing her face.

"Ok, now you two are going to be walking along the sand. Nick I want you to hold her hand, and kick water at her. Just play around and have fun!" The director instructed.

"Got that miss 'I don't know how to act'." Nick joked with her.

"Yeah I got that!" She said as she playfully punched him in the arm.

"AND ACTION, CUE MUSIC!"

I figured out What to say to you Sometimes the words come out so wrong And I know in time that you will understand, me That what we have Is so right, this time.

Nick once again lipped the words. He held Tabitha's hand and swung it back and forth playfully. She ran ahead of him and he caught her by the waste and spun her around.

"Are you sure these two only have known each other in Pre-school?" The director asked Randi.

"Yup! Happy Creek Pre-school."

"I would have guessed they were dating." The director said.

And I need you tonight I need you right now I know deep with in my heart It doesn't matter if it's wrong or right I really need you tonight.

"AND CUT!"

The next segment of the song was back in the living room in front of the fireplace. Tabitha was in satin pajamas and Nick was in drawstring flannels and a white T-shirt.

"Now, Tabitha! I want you to turn your back to Nick as he sings this part. It's basically him begging you to put your trust in him." The director said.

Tabitha nodded and took her place in front of the active fire. Nick sat behind her with his head in his hands.

All those endless times we've tried to make it Last forever more And baby I know I need you

Nick grabbed a hold of Tabitha's hand and pulled her closer to him so she could feel what he was singing. She began to get teary eyed. But, it was just part of the act.

I know deep with in my heart It doesn't matter if It's wrong Or right

"CUT! CUT! CUT! ONE MORE TO GO!"

The last segment was taking place on the dock by the ocean. Both of them were dressed up in evening ware. Tabitha was in a long black sleeve-less gown. Nick was in a suit. Her hair was pulled back in clips.

"Alright! This is the last take! Now, let's make this good. Nick, your going to put the smooth moves on by taking off your coat and slipping it on her shoulder's. After you sing the last line, go in for the kill. By that I mean, kiss her!"

The music started up and Nick began to lip the last few words of the song. The sun was setting and the wind was blowing just enough. Nick took off his coat and slipped it on Tabitha's shoulder's. He tilted her chin up so she was looking right in his eyes. Everyone was anticipating the last scene because the whole shoot went so well.

I really need you tonight.

Nick softly and tenderly kissed Tabitha on the lips. They locked lips until they heard their director yell. "CUT!"

"THAT'S A RAP!"

Tabitha had her eyes squeezed shut. Nick pulled away and laughed lightly at Tabitha. She opened one eye to see if it was over.

"Were done?"

"That's it. They called the rap!" Nick said as he led her off the dock.

"Wow! That was fun!" She said.

They listened to the director talk for a little while. After that, they headed back into the studio because it was getting late.

"Aww…..Kelly! Poor thing. She's out like a light." Tabitha said as she picked up Kelly and placed her in the car seat.

"She's had a rough day." Nick said jokingly.

"Yeah! I'm gonna take her back to the hotel. Do you need a ride?" Tabitha asked.

"Nah! Brian is picking me up. Were heading down to the arcade. I'll call you when I get back, ok?" Nick said.

"Sure! You'll have to come and see my mom!" Tabitha said.

She hopped in her car and turned the radio down low, she didn't want to wake Kelly. She carefully took her out of her car seat and brought her into the hotel.
