Chapter 22: Home life

“HONEY!!!!”

“WHAT?!?”

“Come here!”

“I’m coming!” Brian ran up the stairs of our house in Orlando. He burst into the room. I almost laughed at the look of concern on his face and in his eyes. “What’s wrong? Is it Tommy?”

“No! There’s nothing wrong.”

“Oh God! Please, don’t do that to me again! You scared me.”

“I’m sorry. But I think that what I called you up here for will be worth it.”

“And what did you call me up here for?”

I turned to the crib that was in the corner of our bedroom. “Tommy, tell to Daddy what you just told Mommy.”

“Tell me?” Brian asked, a look of shock on his face.

“Yes, tell you.” I turned back to Tommy. “Come on, baby. Say it for Daddy.”

“Da… d ….. da ….dada!”

“Did he just say what I think he just said?”

“I think so Daddy!”

“Dada” The blond little boy said again.

“Oh my god! He said it!”

“Brian, calm down! We really don’t need to make a trip to the hospital!”

“I know, I’m just excited!”

“I noticed.” I grinned as he took Tommy out of the crib.

“I have to call Nick! This is great!” He picked up the phone and dialed Nick’s phone number. “Hey, Nick! Guess what!”

It has been two month’s since the wedding. We got back from the Bahamas a month and a half ago and we started looking for houses in the Orlando area. Two weeks ago we bought this house and we are still moving stuff in. Hope is back in Kentucky and Destiny is still in Oregon, at the beach. She’s sending me my stuff

I love it down here. It’s sunny and warm. Something you don’t get very often in Portland Oregon. The guys have been a big help. Brian and I have had to buy all new furniture for the new house. Since he was always on tour he never really had time to set up in the apartment that he had been living in. And I didn’t have anything of my own, so we went out and bought all new stuff.

Tommy loves it down here too. He has room to run around, and in the new house he has a toy room, where he spends most of his time. And we have access to free babysitting too. AKA Kevin, Howie and AJ. Howie’s parents don’t live too far away from us and AJ and Kevin share a house that’s a few streets away.

I miss having everyone around all the time, but it’s also nice to have quiet.

Brian was now off the phone with Nick, after getting Tommy to repeat his word into the reciver so that Nick could hear.

“What did Nicky think of Tommy’s word?” I asked, sitting down on the bed, next to my husband, who was holding my son.

“He thought it was really cool.”

“I bet he’s glad to be home, even if his parents have decided that they are moving to LA.”

“Yeah, no kidding. I was kinda surprised about that myself. I never thought I’d see the day the Carter Clan left Florida.”

“Well they need to do what’s best for them. Nick is staying here though, right?”

“Yeah. He’s gonna move into the Orlando area I think, so he’s closer to headquarters. Then we can use his babysitting services too!”

I laughed and then stood up. “Well as much as I’d like to sit here and plan out our methods of torturing the poor guy, I have a house to finish unpacking.” Brian stood up and put a now sleepy Tommy in his crib and turned on the baby monitor.

Together we walked down the stair and into the living room, piled high with boxes. I almost fell backwards at the thought of the work it was going to take to get our belongings out of those boxes and into our new home.

“We’ll get it done. Don’t worry.”

I knew we were going to get it done. Together we could do anything.

“I know. Now lets get to work!”
