"....and you are going to be sharing a room with me." BJ said as they entered the bedroom. Krista put down the box she was carrying and looked around.
"OK. Fine with me."
"Krista, I promise, it wont be as bad as you think. The guys are all really nice. And Nick isn't that bad once you get to know him."
"OK. Well, lets go get the rest of my crap." BJ laughed and the two girls walked out of the room. They spent the next two hours walking back and forth between the two houses, getting boxes of stuff and lugging it up the stairs to the room that they were sharing.
Then they spent hours unpacking everything and putting Krista's stuff away. Just as Krista was hanging up the last dress up in the closet Angel came into the room.
"Krista?"
"Yeah, Sweetie?"
"Can you take Aaron and me on a walk around the lake?"
"Sure. Go get your brother and I'll be ready in a minute. OK?"
"OK!" The little girl walked out of the room. "AARON!!!! She said to get ready!!!" The two older girls laughed.
"What time do you think I should have them home?" Krista asked BJ as she looked at her watch. It was already 4:30.
"Um.....I'm not sure. Nick shouldn't be home until later so I don't think you have to worry about it."
"OK. And by the way, thanks." Krista walked out of the room and started down the stairs.
'Should I tell her?' BJ thought to herself. 'Nah.....'
Krista walked out of the house and saw that Aaron and Angel were waiting for her. "Hey you two! I have an idea. Since the beach is just right down the street, why don't we do there instead of the lake?"
"OK!" Aaron exclaimed and grabbed her hand. Angel agreed and took her other hand. They walked down the driveway and out of the security gate.
About an hour later back at the house.................
"Hello?!?" He called as her walked into the house one of his bandmates right behind him. No one answered him so he tried again. "HELLO!?!?!?!"
"Nick Sweetie, is that you?" Jane called from the kitchen where she was making dinner.
"Yeah, it's me!" Jane came out of the kitchen and hugged her son. She was happy to see him.
"Hey, what about me?" a voice came from behind Nick.
"Brian, quit your whining and come here so I can give you a hug." Jane said laughing. She hugged him and then walked over to the foot of the stairs. "BJ!!! LESLIE!!!! YOUR BROTHER'S HOME!!!!"
There was thunder on the stairs and then Nick was tackled my two girls. Brian and Jane laughed as BJ and Leslie covered their brother's face with kisses. All Nick could do was laugh. "I missed you too!" He managed. The two girls got up off of him (They really did tackle him down to the floor) and took turns hugging him. Jane watched her daughters and smiled.
"Hey. Where are the short ones?" Brian asked, for the first time noticing that the twins hadn't attacked their brother yet.
Just then the door bell rang. Since he was the closest to the door, Brian opened it.
Oh, dang it! I didn't ask your mom for a spare key. I guess we are going to have to ring the bell." Krista said as she and the twins walked up the driveway. They had made it past the gate without any problems. The front door was another story.
"I get to ring the bell!" Aaron said, when they were halfway to the door.
"Knock yourself out." Angel said, laughing at her twin.
When they got up to the front door, Aaron rang the door bell.
Now Krista expected either BJ or Jane to open the door. But that wasn't the case. She was let into the house by a young men, not much taller then herself, with dirty blond hair.
"BRIAN!!!!" The twins exclaimed as soon as they saw him. They ran at him and he laughed. When they caught sight of Nick, who was still sitting on the floor, they attacked him.
Krista walked into the house and Brian shut the door behind her. After the twins had said hello to everyone and ran upstairs, Jane decided that she should introduce Krista to everyone, including Nick.
"Hey, Krista, thanks for taking those two for that walk. They were driving me crazy!" Jane said. She hadn't told Nick that Krista was staying with them. They had offered on short notice and she hadn't had the chance to talk to him since.
"It was no problem. I had fun." She walked over and sat down on the couch in the living room, where every one had moved to. Nick followed her. By this time Jane had gone back into the kitchen to check on dinner and let everyone in the living room work everything out themselves.
"Do you need a ride home?" Nick asked Krista as he watched her get comfortable
"Nope."
"Well, I have a guest and I just got home." He indicated Brian.
"Oh, I'm sorry." She got up and walked over to Brian. "Hi! I'm Krista Tengerson."
"Hi, Krista. I'm Brian Littrell. It's nice to meet you."
"Same here." 'Now that wasn't so hard' "Is that better?" She asked, turning back to Nick.
"Not really, but at least I know who you are."
"Yeah, it's about time. You know, she's only lived next door to us since I was 6 ." BJ said.
"That's where I've seen you! You live next door?'
"Yup! I have for ten years."
"Oh OK. But how come we just met you now? I mean, I'm over here all the time and I've never met you. And it sounds like Nick never has either."
"Well, that's because he is either on tour or when he is home, my baby sitting services aren't needed."
"Wait a minute. You baby sit here all the time, and I've never met you before?" Nick questioned.
"Yeah, is that a problem?'
Nick didn't say anything. 'What is she doing here? If she lives next door, why doesn't she just go home?'
"OK, everyone, your dad just got home, we can eat now!" Jane called into the living room.
"OK. I'll go get the twins, and see if I can get them to wash their hands." Krista said, walking towards the stairs. She went upstairs and found the twins in Nick's room playing with the Play Station. "Come on you two. Dinners ready." They turned off the game and walked into the bathroom to wash their hands. After Krista washed hers the three of them went down the stairs that lead to the kitchen.
"How do you do that? They never do that for me!" Jane exclaimed when she saw the three of them come down so quickly.
"They are good kids." Nick was surprised too. But not about the twins. Why was she still here?
"Well, thanks anyway. OK, you can sit over here." Jane pointed at the seat across from Nick and next to BJ. Krista nodded and sat down. Nick rolled his eyes.
"Nick, you might as well get used to me."
"And why is that? I live here."
"So do I." She turned and started talking quietly to BJ. Brian started to laugh at the look on Nick's face. His face was white.
"Mom?" He turned to his mother, who had just sat down when Krista had told Nick.
"Yes, dear. She's serious."
"You have to be kidding me!"
"Gee, Nick, thanks. Love you too." Krista said sarcastically. Nick just glared at her. "OK, I can tell when I'm not wanted." She stood up. "Sorry Jane, but I think I just last my appetite. Brian, it was nice meeting you. Maybe next time come over, Nick wont be PMSing so badly and we can talk. Nick, I'm sorry that you aren't thrilled to have me here, but to tell you the truth, I didn't ask to stay here."
With that she turned around walked back up the stairs that she had come down only a minutes before.
'This could turn out to one long year' Jane thought to herself.
