Prologue

"OK Orlando and Tampa. I gotta go. Maggie is up next! I'll talk to you all tomorrow." Krista Tengerson said as she wrapped her show on the local radio station in her home of Tampa Bay, Florida.

"Great show, Krista!" Her producer, Brent, said.

"Thanks! I'll see you tomorrow!" Krista smiled at him, grabbed her jacket and bag before walking out of the studio.

"Hey Krista! I'll see you tomorrow!" The girl sitting at the front desk said.

"Bye, I'll see you later!" Krista walked out of the building and over to her car. She got in and turned on the radio. She laughed as she heard her friend, Maggie, start her show.

"Hey, Orlando and Tampa! Guess what! The Backstreet Boys are coming home in two days! I know that Krista is going to be thrilled about that."

"Yeah, right!" Krista laughed as she drove.

All of the regular listeners knew that Krista had been blessed with living next door to Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys. Not that she ever saw him. He was always on tour. But she had met the rest of his family and she liked them. She got along great with the oldest girl, BJ, and she loved the twins. They were so cute. Leslie was a good kid too.

But she didn't know about Nick. She didn't really care either. He had never really interested her. She had heard enough about him from all the people at the station and all the girls at school.

Krista got home and parked her car in the drive way. She got out and was almost knocked over by twin masses of energy. "KRIIIIIIIIISTAAAAAAAAAA!!!"

She had to laugh. "Hey guys! She looked down at them. At 5-7 she was considerably taller then them. "Aaron, I thought you weren't going to be back for another two days."

"Nope. That's when Nick and the rest of the guys get back. Mom wanted me to get home a few days early. So are you ready?"

"Ready for what?"

"You don't know?" "I guess I don't. What are you talking about?" She saw Angel give her twin brother and look of warning. He ignored her.

"You are going to live with us!"

She was shocked. She didn't know about this. She looked at the garage. Her parents cars were there. "Excuse me. I have to go talk to my parents. But I think I'm supposed to baby-sit you two tonight, so I'll see you later. OK?"

The twins nodded and where gone as fast as they had come. She smiled and the remembered what Aaron had said. She turned around and started towards her house. Her parents were going to here about this one.

* * * * * * * * *

She couldn't believe them.

Krista had asked about what Aaron had said.

"Honey, we meant to tell you. Your father and I have to go to France and we don't want to leave you home by yourself." Her parents were always going on trips. She was always allowed to spend the time at him by herself before.

"How long are you going to be gone?"

"Well, that's why we wanted you to stay with the Carters. They want us to stay for about a year....." Her father explained.

"A YEAR!!!!!!" She just really couldn't believe them. They were going to be gone for a year and they decided to tell her two days before she was moving in with another family.

"Krista calm down!"

"NO! I will not clam down! I was just told that in two days I'm going to live with another family for a YEAR! I'm not going to clam down!" Her parents just looked at her. "I'm going to start packing up my stuff. Will I have access to the house while you are gone?" Her parents nodded. Krista got up off of the couch and walked up the stairs to her room.

Once there she picked up the phone and dialed a number she had dialed since she was in third grade.

"Hello?"

"Hey Lyssa."

"Hey, Kris! You don't sound very happy. What's wrong? What did they do this time?" Alyssa was Krista's best friend. She knew all about her parents.

"They have done some pretty bad stuff, but this time takes the cakes."

"What happened?"

"Well, as of two days from now I will be a resident if the Carter Household."

"WHAT!?!?!?!" Alyssa also knew that Krista lived next to Nick Carter. She had even helped Krista baby-sit, more then once.

"Yeah, I know. That's what I said. They are going to France and don't want to leave me home. So they asked the Carters if they would watch me."

"Well, the Carters are nice. BJ and Leslie are cool and the twins are adorable!"

"I know. That's not what I'm mad about. I'm mad that my parents waited until they were leaving in two day to tell me."

"Well, you know it could be worse. Nick could be home."

"He's coming home the day that I move all my stuff over there."

"Ouch! Well, you were bound to meet him sometime. You do live next door to him."

"Yeah, I know. But you know how I get around people that I don't know." Even though she may not seem like it, Krista can get very shy and quiet around people that she doesn't know.

"Yeah, I know, but you are living in his house with his family. You are going to have to meet him sooner or later."

"Yeah I know."

"Well, don't worry. There is nothing either one of us can do. So I guess I'll just have to come over so you can help me with my homework."

"Oh, goody. I can hardly wait." The two girls laughed and talked until Alyssa had to go. After hanging up the phone Krista started packing some of her belongings.
