Chapter 8: A different kind of Christmas......

*A Few Months Later......*

Brian and Steffany had just walked inside and shook off their snow covered coats. Nick and Monica were in the livingroom playing N64. Monica and Nick were so deep in thought and concentration that they didn't hear anyone come in.

"OH YEAH! I WIN! Well, I mean, it was inevitable. I am the champ of Mario Kart, anyway. Actually it was kind of unfair, because you've never played me. Which means, you couldn't have possibly known how incredibly excellent I am!" Nick said as he stood up and did a dance.

"Oh, zip the lip Carter! You only won cuz....cuz, I let you win! I mean, plus, I had a cramp in my hand! Which was a handi-cap of sorts!"

"HA! Handi-cap, shmandy-cap! I won and that's the real truth! But, You can't handle the truth." Nick said as he placed his hands on his hips.

"Well, HA! Sure I can. I mean, I've accepted the truth that you are really an over grown baby, haven't I?" Monica said as she smirked at Nick.

"Oh, that's it! You better start running, Mon!" Nick began chasing Monica, but they both stopped at a screeching hault when Brian and Steffany stepped into the picture.

"Well, well, well. We have two over grown children, don't we?" Steffany said while handing Brian the grocery bag.

"Well, Nick is just a big goof! I mean, you can't blame Monica for his actions. If you keep her with him for more then...hmm....30 minutes, it's only logical that she too, get's the brain copacity of Nick." Brian quickly stuck his tongue out at Nick after making that comment and quickly left the livingroom.

The four of them sat around Steffany's Dinning room table. They were all eating cheeze pizza. This has been a meal that both girls have grown very accustomed too with Brian and Nick.

"Oh, Monica! I talked to my parents today and their going to be away on a cruise during christmas. So, it's just you and me!"

"Seriously? That really stinks! I mean, I like spending the holiday's with you, Steff! It's just, Holiday's are more then a two person event, ya know?" Monica said as she sipped her water.

"I know, Mon! But, it couldn't be helped. Well, it could have, but they chose to go. They figured i'm in my 20's, they probably didn't realize that your only 17 and you still need them."

"Yeah, I know! I mean, I need them, but I guess I need to learn to rely on myself. Right?"

Brian and Nick felt a little out of place during that conversation. They felt like they didn't have a right to hear what was going on. But, you could tell in Brian's eyes, that he wasn't thrilled that they would be spending the holidays alone.

"Girls? Could you exuse us?" Brian said as he rolled his eyes, as if telling Nick to get up from the table. He didn't catch on.

"Nick? I need to talk to you." Brian said quietly.

"Not right now, Rok! I'm eating my pizza. I'm a happy man right now! Why would you want to rui- OUCH!" Nick cried as Brian kicked him from under the table. "I am getting up right now, thank you for giving me that option, Brian! Ladie's, I'll be back." Nick said as he rubbed his sore leg.

Steffany and Monica laughed at Nick. Monica really enjoyed Nick's company. She also enjoyed Brian's. But it was obvious Steffany enjoyed Brian more.

Brian dragged Nick over to the corner of the hallway. Nick was literally being dragged, his socks sliding on the wooden floor.

"Ya know what, Brian? I've never seen you be so demanding before! And to be honest, I didn't like it!" Nick said as he softly rubbed his leg.

"Nick, I'm going to be frank with you, ok?" Brian said as he hit his hand against his head.

"Fine Brian, but I hate role playing. Can I still be Nick?"

Nick and Brian both burst out laughing. No, Nick isn't stupid, he is just a funny guy, and he took this as a moment to let his funnyness shine through.

"Yes, buddy! You can still be Nick. Ok, listen. The girls are going to be alone on Christmas. Your mom and dad are going to be in L.A. with Aaron and the girls. You are going to Kentucky with me to Kevin's farm. Why don't we bring the girls along?"

"Bring them to Lexington? That's a great idea. That way, they'll still have a snowy christmas, and they won't be alone, they'll be with us! Plus, your parents will be their!" Nick said.

"Exactly! So, what do you say? Let's ask the girls to spend Christmas with us!"

Nick nodded his head and ran back to the dinning room, almost slipping on the wooden floor for about the 4th time that day.

"Jeez, Nick! Your going to kill youself one of these days." Monica said.

"I know, remind me to make a mental note about wearing padded socks!"

"Do they make those?"

"They must! If they don't, I'll invent them." Nick said.

Brian watched at the way Nick and Monica got along. He thought they would be perfect for each other if they hooked up. But, for some reason, they both haven't shared their feelings for each other. Brian figured Nick didn't want to start a relationship with a girl he was going to be leaving at the end of the school year.

"Steff? Mon? Nick and I did some hard thinking in the hallway. Were not going to allow you two to spend Christmas alone! We want you two to pack up your stuff and go away on Christmas break to Kentucky to spend the holiday's with my family."

"Brian....I don't know! I mean, Mon and I don't want to impose on you, Nick, or any members of your family." Steffany said as she shook her head.

"Your not imposing. Plus, Brian's mom Jackie would love to have girls around the farm. Honest! Right Brian?" Nick said.

"Exactly. Come on! How does tree decorating, egg nog, hot chocolate, caroling, snowman and snow angels, and horse back riding sound?" Brian said.

"Horse back riding?" Monica said excitedly.

"Oh yeah, Brian's cousin Kevin. He is also in the group! He is the one you refer to as the 'tall, dark and handsome' one. He owns at least 7 horses." Nick said.

"Please! Come on, Steff! Come with Nick and I! Please." Brian said as he pleaded.

Steffany looked at Brian, then over to Nick, then over to Monica. All of them had on pleading looks, but Brian and Nick's were the most pathetic.

"Ok! I give! We'll go. But, no more of those puppy dog eyes! Or those lower lips! I can't handle them!"
