BAND BIO/INFO:

Miscellaneous:

Slack Season is an original indie pop/punk band from the thriving music scene of Gainesville, FL. The band formed about a year and a half ago, and have been attracting fans ever since with their catchy anthemic rock. The sound of the Season is difficult to describe with every song another window into the group's broad musical perspective. "We didn't want to edit out any of influences by sticking to a format," says lead singer J.R. Youngman. The result is a sound that displays their influences proudly, without any care to what genre they're supposed ti fit into. From blistering punk rock to surf psychedlia to folk to country twang, Slack Season definitely covers the spectrum. The band has a large draw in their hometown, playing most often at one of the Southeast's best music venues, the Covered Dish. The band also tours the Southeast regularly and have shared the stage with They Might Be Giants, Less Than Jake, Sister Hazel, For Squirrels, Mighty Joe Plum, Speed McQueen, Speaker, Lagwagon, George Clinton & the P Funk Allstars, Ben Harper, Number One Family Mover, Lustre, the Mayflies USA, and Five Eight, among others. Slack Season released their debut CD, Big Pinata Sale, about a year ago to excellent local/regional/national reviews. The CD has sold over 800 copies locally. The new CD was produced by Derron Nuhfer (of LESS THAN JAKE). The release is slated for November 1997
