June 16, 1999, Canadian retailers received their long awaited shipments of
Series II cards. Unlike the U.S boxes, the Canadian boxes are marked "Canadian Version".
The Canadian Series II cards are a separate production run than the U.S. version.
The only difference on the Canadian cards from the U.S version, is that each card bears a red foil Canadian Maple Leaf on the upper right corner.
There are only 148 cards in the Canadian version of Series II, while the U.S version has 151 cards.
The three cards missing from the Canadian version are the common cards of: Mac the
Cardinal, Sammy the Ty-Dye Bear, and rare bear Princess the Bear. The last difference is that the
poster included in the U.S. version of the Series II Cards is not included in a sealed box
of Canadian cards.
There are only 4 gold cards for each Birthday/Rookie card produced and only 7 gold cards for each Retired
card produced. The odds of finding an autographed card are estimated at 1 in 1,645.
