Beanie Buddy Information

Beanie Buddies are Ty Warner's newest product. They were introduced on September 30, 1998. Beanie Buddies were a instant hit from the start. They left stores shelves as soon as they came in. The Beanie Buddies are 40% larger than the Beanie Babies and are made of Tylon, a super soft fabric designed by Ty. The first Beanie Buddies introduced are known as the "Original Nine".

The Origianl Nine:

Beak the Kiwi Bird
Humphrey the Camel
Jake the Duck
Peanut the Elephant
Quackers the duck
Rover the Dog
Stretch the Ostrich
Teddy the Cranberry Bear
Twigs the Giraffe

Some of the release's of Beanie Buddies were of rare Beanie Babies that collectors could not afford. Some examples include: Royal Blue Peanut, Chilly, and Humphrey. By pricing the Beanie buddies at a suggested retail price of $10, collectors of all ages could afford to own them.

Shotly after they were released, Ty Warner made an announcement stating that "They had run out of Tylon, the extremely soft material used exclusively for Beanie Buddies". The announcement also said that until they could get more Tylon, no more Beanie Buddies would be produced.

The prices of Beanie Buddies skyrocketed right after and it was very difficult to find any of them. On December 31, 1998, Ty retired Twigs. Twigs was only in production for a few months, making him hardest to locate.

On January 1, 1999, Ty Warner introduced fourteen new Beanie Buddies.
