Lyrics Needing Music

These are poems that I have written that either already have music or need someone to put them to music.

WATER IN MY HANDS
Music by Gary Robbins

I let you come into my world
When my world was desolate
Granted you dominion
Memories we won't forget

But with you came a famine
The desets shifting sands
Keeping you is like holding
Water in my hands

I thought that I had found in you
A world we could map out
I thought that you could help me see
What life was all about

But now I can see
That you had different plans
Keeping you is like holding
Water in my hands

Keeping you is like holding water in my hands
I can't go on much longer with the way it stands
Your love was slowly drowning me,but now I understand
Keeping you is like holding water in my hands

This is the first song I ever wrote, and the one I have tortured audiences for over three years with. The title was given to me by Gary Robbins.

YOU MAY NOT ALWAYS LOVE ME (BUT MY MAMA ALWAYS WILL)

Darlin', I truly loved you when you walked into my life
I couldn't be any happier then when I took you for my wife
An' even when you an' Zeke ran off, Girl I loved you still,
You may not always love me but my Mama always will

I came home from pounding nails all day baking in the sun,
I thought that I would find you there, instead I found no one
I only found the note you left on the kitchen window sill
You may not always love me but my Mama always will

I must admit you're thurough, all the furniture's gone
An' all my clothes are in a pile, burning on the lawn.
The Mayflower man just stopped by, he left your moving bill,
You may not always love me but my Mama always will.

A year has passed now since you left, good luck has come to me
Late Sunday I woke up to find I'd won the lottery
I thought I'd seen the last of you but you linger still
You may not always love me but I'll bet your lawyer will

Okay, this next one has no music to it, except what rattles around in my head. Tune anyone?
Time Was

Time was
I'd take what fortune came my way
I'd take some comfort knowing
At least, a glimmer may be showing
Play those silly games you like to play

Time was
I'd keep trying 'til it hurt
I'd do much more than my share
Hoping that some day you'd care
But you just dragged me through the dirt

Yeah, now those days are gone
That attitude was wrong
If you can't reciprocate
Don't expect for me to wait
I know that I deserve much more
Than left scratching at your door

Time was
I took more indiferrence than I should
I'd make excuses for your lies
Thought I saw something in your eyes
Somehow, the misery felt strangly good

Yeah, you'll no longer see me there
With that distant, broken stare
If you can give me what I need
I won't stand here while I bleed
I will settle for nothing less
Than total willingness.
