Brad's BIG Race Analysis
Breeders' Cup Edition-1999
The Breeders' Cup Statue
has arrived!
It's now less than 8 weeks. If You are interested in selected seat views, you can check the following pictures. I took these on Saturday August 21 at Gulfstream.
Note that the track surface has been removed. They were checking for, and repairing cracks in the cushion on the day that I was there.North Pavilion-Festival North (Not yet constructed) The North pavilion seats will be constructed inside the green fence to the far left of this photo. While your view of the finish will be almost nonexistent, there will be Jumbotrons® in the infield which will allow you to see the finish. Plus, you'll have an excellent view of the turn. For the price ($12.50 U.S.) you can't go wrong. These prices have been the same since the initial time the Breeders' Cup came to Gulfstream in 1989.
Section 144-242 This is at the far North end of the grandstand just outside of the 1/8 pole. The North pavilion seats are the only ones further from the finish than these.
Section 344 and 345 These are basically the same as before, except 3rd floor.
Section 141 These are inside the 1/8 pole. You've got a good view of the turn and an okay view of the finish.
Section 339 Way up and out. These are actually not bad, if you don't want/need to be close to the horses. You've got a great view of the entire track here. And if you bring your telesc...er, binoculars, you can get a feel for the action.
Section 335 Same as 339, but not so far out.
Section 131 Very nice. And section 231 behind it has good views as well. Generally, anywhere in this area will afford decent views and closeness. You're just outside the 1/16 pole here.
Section 227-228 Just inside the 1/16 pole. These are pretty good. As long as you are at least row B and higher in 228, and row D or higher in 227. These seats have a great line of sight all around the track.
Section 226-326 Even better. These are higher up (326) but you get a good line of sight for the is, and great line of sight views all around the track. In section 226 they are good as well but you must be at least row D or higher. If not, you are subject to aisle traffic.
Section 115-215 In the Clubhouse, 2nd floor. These are very good. I normally sit in or near this area during the meet. (Though my Florida Derby seats are in Section 021) It's a tricky angle on the finish though, and you'll be swearing that the inside horse held on, only to see the photo where he/she lost by a neck. This is more pronounced as you head to section 113/213 and 111/211.
Section 209-Rooftop Dining-Turf Club Are all 3 basically the same. Though Turf Club members will be slightly elevated from this photo. This is the far south side of the 2nd floor Clubhouse.
South Pavilion-Festival South This is actually shot from 209, but at the far right of the photo is the area where the South Pavilion is being constructed. The strip of concrete that usually is part of the Valet lot. You will have a head-on view of the stretch and a great view of the first turn. There will be Jumbotrons® in the infield remember. I sat in this section in 1989. And again, for the price ($12.50 U.S.) they're not bad. Though not really as good as the North Pavilion.
South Pavilion construction They've already started construction on the South Pavilion, though they're not very far along.
Well, there you go. I this helps give you an idea of your seating or where you want to look for seating. I didn't cover any seating between 125/225/325 and 115/215/315 because the bulk of those seats weren't made available to the public.
