Are You the BSB's Ideal Girl?

The Orlando, Florida-based bandmates behind the hit single "Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)" tell BOP what they really want from a girlfriend.

Kevin Richardson knows there's just on thing fans desperately want to know about the Backstreet Boys. "The question we get asked more than any wohter is, 'Do we have girlfriends?'" he tells us. "We get asked out a lot."
The answer, in case you don't know, is no. "At the moment, none of us have girlfriends," A.J. confesses. But that doesn't mean that A.J., Kevin and the rest of the BsB don't think about having girlfriends. In fact, they seem to spend a lot of time daydreaming about all the special things they dig in girls, and how those things add up to the perfect girlfriend.
So, when we recently sat down to chat with the BsB, who released their self-titled debut album in the U.S. this year, we asked them to dish about their ideal girls. And dish they did.
The ideal girlfriend of Howie is someone who is willing to share her feelings with him and who can talk openly about any problems between them. "She has to be a good communicator," the 24-year-old singer declares. "For me, communication is a big thing in a relationship. Without it, there is no relationship. You have to be able to talk."
Howie's ideal girlfriend also has to be able to forget about her problems and have a good time. "My idea of the perfect girl is someone who likes to have fun and enjoy life," he tells us. "I'm a very free and loving guy, and I just try to have fun with life and not take things too seriously."
Of course, Howie does take some things seriously, such as his career with the BsB, and he wants a girl who can do the same thing, too. "She has to be able to have fun, but I want someone who has a good head on her shoulders, too-someone with her own career goals, who knows what she wants in life and is serious about getting it," Howie says.
That's what Brian wants from his girlfriend, too. "I think I'd like someone intelligent who wants a career for herself and who is interested in achieving other goals in life," Brian tells us, adding that she should also have a sweet side. "I'm looking for a very giving person-someone who's open and trustworthy and willing to have fun. She also has to be athletic, so we can go for a jog and lift weights together and have fun that way."

"It's not about looks"
Brian may want a girlfriend who's in good shape, but he insists that he isn't looking for someone with the bod of a Baywatch babe. "For me, it's not about looks," he says firmly. However, the 22-year-old singer admits that there's one physical characteristic that has to perfect for him to fall in love with a girl. "I don't really have any specific physical likes-like redhead or blond or brunette-but I do have to like a girl's eyes, because that's the thing that attracts me to a girl," Brian shares. "To me, eyes are very appealing."
A.J. agrees. "I like a girl's eyes," he admits. "Honestly, I know most guys won't agree with me, but the first i look at in any woman is her eyes, because if I look deeply into them, it's like, 'Wow.'"
Soulful eyes aren't the only physical characteristic that A.J. looks for in a girlfriend. He also digs girls with long, sleek fingernails. "I love a girl who has long fingernail, because I like the way they feel on my skin," the 19-year-old singer confesses. "When a girl rubs the back of my neck and she has long nails, man, that's really nice."

"a big heart and a sense of humor"
Eyes and fingernails aside, A.J. isn't looking for a girlfriend with a perfectly buff bod and a flawless face. In fact, he's far more interested in her personality than her looks. "I'm not a picky kind of guy," he tells BOP. "Really, she just has to have a big heart and a sense of humor. I just want someone relaxed, someone I can be myself around-someone who doesn't make me feel like I have to pretend to be someone I'm not."
That's just what Nick wants from his girlfriend, too. Like A.J., Nick tells us that he isn't searching for physical perfection in his girlfriend. Instead, he's looking for a soul mate with a sweet personality. "I mean, she doesn't have to be someone who has everything-every characteristic-you've ever dreamed of a girl having. But if she fits the characteristics that fit you, and you like her a lot, well, then, that's what I'm looking for," he shares. "Just as long as she has a great personality and a good heart, and she's really nice, I'll be satisfied."
Nick won't be satisfied, however, with a girl who has lots of heart and personality, but has also globbed on, heavy cosmetics. If there's one thing this 17-year-old singer can't stand, it's a girl who wears way too much makeup. "I've seen too many girls who have so much makeup on that you can't see their real faces. I don't believe girls have to put makeup on to show off their beauty," Nick declares. "I've seem plenty of girls who don't need any makeup." In other words, toss out your eye shadows and lipstick, and let Nick see your own natural gorgeousness!
And while you're at it, don't worry about putting on lipstick for Kevin either, because he totally agrees with Nick when it comes to makeup. "I don't think a lot of women need to wear it," he says.
If you were Kevin's girlfriend, you also wouldn't have to stress about picking out perfect, cool clothes to wear around him. That's because Kevin isn't one of those guys who judges girls by the clothes they wear. "Women should wear whatever makes them happy," he believes. "Whatever makes them comfortable. If they're too overdressed and wear too much makeup, then they're trying too hard. But if they go out and wear what they like, that's okay."
No matter what clothes she wears Kevin's ideal girlfriend isn't someone who only wants a short, fun-filled fling with him. The 25-year-old singer is definitely look for a lasting relationship-maybe on that leads to marriage, since he's told BOP before that he dreams about getting married and being a daddy someday.
For now, however, Kevin will have to content himself with the company of A.J, Brian, Howie, and Nick, since his ideal girlfriend is still only a dream. Even so, Kevin is sure that someday soon, he and his bandmates will all meet those special someones who will totally rock their worlds. "It's just a matter of time," he tells BOP confidently. And with their talents and their oh-so-sweet personalities, we're sure it won't be too much time!
