Coaches Comments

Dec 1999

As these are the first comments of the year, it has taken me some time to evaluate the team. We are young but it seems that the team is beginning to learn about the Fletcher tradition. With our current record being 12-1-3 it seemed that we could not finish a team off, tying our city rivals seemed to bother the coach until we went to Tampa. I was very pleased with the win over Columbia and satisfied with a 1-0 loss to Oveida. The real surprise came in the sound wins over River Ridge and Niceville. I believe the team now sees what is in its future. We will continue to work hard to polish our game. This team has a strong will to win... A trait that all Fletcher teams have.

The team is moving in the right direction ever since we came back from the PUMA tournament. We have four district games left, two with a strong Wolfson team. With three weeks to go in the season ,this team has built a strong bond and looks like they can reach the goal that past teams have tried to reach.. a state championship. 15-1-3 is not bad for a rebuilding year. I'm very proud of these guys.

Where else would you rather be than the State Final Four. The coaching staff is so very proud of our team for their "will to win". This will be our first senior group that has made the trip back to the "show" in their career. The opponent in the semis will be Palm Coast. Bob Sawyer is a very good coach with a well discipline team. They will be sound and patient.
I would personally like to thank all the parental support we have received this year. I also would like to thank all the alumni for coming out to our games.
I hope to see all of you in Tallahassee at Capitol Stadium.
