OPENING SCENE: INT. OF DAWSON'S ROOM. JOEY AND DAWSON ARE KISSING BY THE BEDROOM WINDOW. . .
JOEY: (stops kissing) Dawson, I don't know if. . .
DAWSON: (interrupting) Ssh. . . Joey this is right. .
JOEY: How can you be so sure Dawson?
DAWSON: Because Jo. . . it feels right to be here with you like this.
JOEY: It does?
DAWSON: (concerned tone) Isn't this what you want?
JOEY: Yes, but is this really what you want. . . or are you just scared that if you don't react you'll lose me?
DAWSON: Jo. . . I want to be with you. . . granted yes I was scared. . . but that's not why I kissed you.
JOEY: The real thing?
DAWSON: You're going to make me say it aren't you?
JOEY: I think I've waited long enough to hear it. . .don't you?
DAWSON: Fair enough. . . I love you Jo. . . you know that. . . somehow you've always know that.
JOEY: I love you too Dawson. . . but I'm scared.
DAWSON: Scared of what?
JPEY: I'm scared that what I wished for won't live up to the dream. . . and I'll lose my best friend.
DAWSON: That's not going to hapen Jo. . . We are always going to be friends. . . what's happening here between us can only make us closer.
EXT. SHOT/JEN IS RINGING DAWSON'S DOORBELL MRS. LEERY ANSWERS. MRS. LEERY: Jennifer, what a nice surprise. . . how are you doing?. . . Jen have you been crying?
JEN: (sniffling) Hello Mrs. Leery. Is Dawson here?
MRS. LEERY: Yes hon, he's upstairs. . . would you lke to come in?
JEN: (walking inside) Yes please, I really need to talk to him.
MRS. LEERY: Go on up Jen. . . I think he's still up.
JEN: Is Joey here too?
MRS. LEERY: I don't believe so. . . I know he was looking for her earlier though.
JEN STARTS UP STAIRS. CUT TO INT. OF DAWSONS ROOM.
DAWSON: Jo. . . What are you thinking?
JOEY: A great many things. . . I htink maybe I just need some time to adjust to these new developments.
JOEY HUGS DAWSONA ND STARTS TO HEAD OUT THE WINDOW.
DAWSON: (surprised) You're leaving?
JOEY: For tonight. . . but I'll see you tomorrow at school
DAWSON: Jo. . . you can stay.
JOEY: I don't think so. . . not tonight Dawson.
DAWSOn: (hugs Joey) Jo. . .please don't go.
JOEY: It's okay Dawson. . . (kisses Dawson) I'll see you tomottow.
DAWSON: I can't explain it Jo. . . but I feel like your leaving tonight is goign to change things. Change what we arted here tonight.
JOEY: Dawson it's less then eight hours until we see wachother again. . . I think we'll be fine.

JEN ENTERS AS JOEY EXITS.

CUT TO EXIT/JOEY IS ON TO[ OF LADDER. DAWSON'S VOICE COMES THROUGH WINDOW. JOSY PAUSES THEN GOES BACK UP THE LADDER TO EAVESDROP. CUT TO INT. OF DAWSON'S ROOM.
JEN: I'm sorry Dawson. . . I knwo it's late. I didn't know where else to go. . . I could really use a friend.
JEN WALKS OVER AND SITS ON BED. STARTS TO SRY. DAWSON WALKS OVER AND SITS BESIDE HER.
DAWSON: Jen?. . . What is it. . . What's wrong?
JEN: (starts to really cru) My gramps died.
DAWSON PUTS AN ARM AROUNF JEN. SHE RESTS HER HEAD ON HIS SHOULDER. JOEY LOOKS IN WINDOW AND SEES THIS.

JOEY STAND AT WINDOW A FEW MORE SECONDS THEN LEAVES. CUT TO INT. OF BEDROOM
DAWSON: No preblem Jen. . . I'm sorry this had to happen.
CAPESIDE HIGH:NEXT DAY. DAWSON WAITS AT HOEY'S LOCKER. PACEY WALKS UP.
PACEY: Hey man. . . how goes it?
DAWSON: (smiling) Great Pacey. . . really your bever going ot believe it great.
PACEY: (sarcastic) Do tell my friend. . . did you get the girl?

DAWSON LAUGHS. JEN WALKS UP JOEY IS ABOUT TO SOME ARUOND THE CORNER. STOPS WHEN SHE HEARS PACEY TALKING TO DAWSON AND JEN.
PACEY: Well Jen. . . I hear congratulations are in order. DAWSON: (embarassed) Pacey. . . no.
JEN: (confused) Congratulations? What are you talking about Pacey?
DAWSON: Don't be sly with me. . . Dawson told me all about last night. You've mad hima very happy man. Getting back with you has been his one goal in life.
JOEY HEARS THIS AND RUNS BACK DOWN THE HALL UPSET.
JEN: Dawson. . . What is Pacey talking about?

DAWSON: I've been thinking about Jo a lot recently. . . I realized I wasn't being honest with myself about my feelings for her.
PACEY: Yeah. . . she's pretty great. It's s god thing you figured that out before someone else did. . . Not that anyone else would have stood a chance.
CUT TO JOEY AND JEN IN MRS. TRINGLE'S CLASS.
JEN: Hey Jey. (Joey acknowledges Jen with a nod) Is everything okay Joey?

MRS. TRINGLE: Everybody pass your reports forward. Josephine if you could please pick them up.
JOEY GETS UP AND PICKS UP REPORTS. CUT TO DAWSON IN FILM CLASS.

DAWSON: She's goign through a rough time. Maybe you should talk to her Cliff. She really needs a friend right now.

OFFICE MONITOR SOME INTO CLASS WITH A NOTE. HANDS IT TO MR. GOLD.
MR. GOLD: Attention class. This is from the Principal. There is goign to be an assembly next class period, so immediatly after the bell youa re to find you way to the auditorium.
BELL RINGS. CLASS EXITS TOWARD AUDITORIUM.
PACEY: (walks over to Joey) JOey, Joey, Joey. . . you little devil.
JOEY: What are you talking about Pacey? Speak English.
PACEY: You. . . Dawson. . . last night. Am I ringing any bells?
JOEY: (surprised) He told you?
PACEY: Yes. . . why do you sound do surprised?

DAWSON WALKS INTO AUDITORIUM WITH JEN. JOEY SEES DAWSON AND STARTS TO WALK AWAY.

JOEY KEEPS WALKING. AS DAWSON WALKS PAST PACEY. . . PACEY GRABS HIS ARM.

DAWSON: Nothing. . . when she left last night. . . everything was fine. I've go tto talk to her Pacey.
MR. GOLD WALKS BY.
NRS. GOLD: Mr. Witter. . . mr.s Leery take a seat, the assembly is about to begin.
DAWSON SITS DOWN NEXT TO JEN AND PACEY. JOEY IS SEATED A FEW ROWS UP.
PRINCIPAL: (stepping up to podium) Everyone quiet down and we'll get the assembly started. . . Everyone please take a seat. (ausitorium starts to quiet down) Class last assembly we announced our scholarship recipient was Grace Elkins, unfortunatly due to some personal issues Grace has declined the scholarship. So we have selected another worthy candidate. I am very pleased to announce that this morning our alternate candidate accepted the scholorship to Paris.
DAWSON: (to Pacey) They didn't waste anytime replacing Joey.
PACEY: Jo's not going?
DAWSON: No of course not.
PACEY: Are you sure Dawson? Did she tell you that?
DAWSON: Well no, but after last night she couldn't. . . not now.
PRINCIPAL: Class let's give a hand to this years scholarship recipient. . . Ms. Josephine Potter. Josephine please stand up.
JOEY STANDS UP AND STUDENTS APPLAUD.
DAWSON: (staring at Joey) Joey? (mouthign to Joey) Why?
