Save Our Wildlife
Do to many efforts to safe our Eagles,
they are doing very well today.
This photo belongs to W. G. Sharpe.
He told me "This was a young pair
(the female hadn't completed her change to the white head).
They are the first mating pair to make their home in
Walker County Texas since the turn of the century (1900).
It is believed that they migrated from Tennessee for the winter and mating.
They returned the following year and used the same nest.
Eagles tend to return to the same area year after year and often use a nest
over and over, but will build a new nest sometimes.
It is expected (I haven't checked) that the babies
will return to this same area when they mate to establish homes.
Eagles mate for life and often will not mate again when one of the pair dies.
Save our Manatee
Many are injured and killed by boaters
that refuse to obey the law of slowing down
while they are in the areas the Manatee's migrate.
