.Chapter.Eighteen.

Mickey sat in the truck and leaned her head on the steering wheel. They had just gotten back from the grocery store but she was slow to get out of the truck, Mandy and Amanda were at AJ's waiting for them to get back. Everyone went inside but Mickey just couldn't seem to pull herself out. She started the truck again and took off. Brian had seen her through the front window of the house and he took off after her.

"Hey girl." He said when he caught up with her at a red light.

"What are you doing?" She asked him.

"Just going for a drive, how about you?"

"I needed something at the store."

"Yeah, sure." He said, not believing her. "Do you want to go to my place?"

"Nah. That's how rumors start." She joked. The light turned green so she took off and Brian pulled in behind her. They both turned off into a gas station and got out of their vehicles.

"So, are you going to keep running away from them?"

"Well, I don't know yet. I haven't thought that far ahead."

"Seriously Mickey. Don't run from it." He walked over and put his hand on her chin. "You can beat this."

"I'm not sure I'm even going to join the fight." She said looking into his eyes.

"Come on back. I only have another two days in Florida before we have to go again and I don't want to spend that whole time worrying about you."

"Hey, I never said you had to worry about me. I'm fine." She smiled at him and they got back in the trucks and headed for AJ's.

When they got to AJ's they walked up to the front door together. Brian asked her if she was ok, she kept trying to reassure him but it wasn't working. When they walked in everyone looked at them. Brian said they went to the store when he saw the quizzical looks on everyone's faces. They weren't buying it but they accepted it. The music was up loud and they were all sitting around laughing and talking. Mickey was thinking she made a mistake by staying and then coming back here. But she didn't want to look weak or like a bitch.

"Mickey, this is Amanda and Mandy." AJ said introducing the girls.

"Hi." They said.

"Hey." Mickey mustered and then headed for the kitchen. This time it was AJ who followed her.

"My God, am I going to turn around in the shower and see one of you guys?"

"You never know!" AJ said with a grin.

"I'm just coming to get another drink. What are you doing in here?"

"I figured I'd reorganize your cupboards for you." She joked.

"Oh, you're so funny." He said sarcastically.

"I've come to get a drink and something to munch on. Got any good snacks?"

"Well you were with me when I went grocery shopping."

"My mind was on other things, sorry."

"Ok, do you want good or good for you."

"AJ, I don't expect to find anything here that's good for you. I don't know what I want. A grilled cheese sandwhich."

"God, you change your mind faster then anyone I know."

"That's what keeps me so interesting." She said raising her eyebrows. "So isn't it kinda awkward having your ex here and your current. I mean I'm assuming that I can call Laura your girlfriend. If she's just another lay for you then I'll punch you."

"Yeah Laura's my girl. Me and Amanda are ok as friends. She's got a boyfriend and all. I asked Laura about it and she seems fine so... I don't really think of it. Amanda's my friend now and that's all. Do you think of your exboyfriends as exes or as friends?"

"Neither." She laughed. "No, seriously I get what you mean. Laura's cool with it, she's like that. She's the type that likes to meet the exgirlfriend just because she likes to get to really know her boyfriend. An exgirlfriend shapes who he is at the moment."

"I really like her Mick." He said as he looked up from starting to make her sandwhich.

"What are you doing? I can make my own sandwhich!"

"It's ok, I don't mind. I mean God, you guys have been my guests and I haven't been much of a host."

"Yes you have. You've made Laura happy and that's all I ask of you. There's no need to focus on me and Jenn."

"You guys are so cool."

"You guys aren't so bad yourself." She said. "You've made us all happy."

"Well you need to smile more then. You don't seem very happy."

"I'm being immature about this whole thing aren't I?"

"No, I never said that. I just like it when you smile and have fun. I think we're all having trouble grasping ahold of this."

"Well I'll smile more then!" She said and smiled at him.

"That's better." He said handing her her sandwhich. They both headed into the livingroom.

Mickey went to 'her' circle chair and curled up to eat her sandwhich. Things eased a bit and everyone went back to talking and laughing. They were trying to figure out what to do that night. None of them could really come up with anything so they decided to rent some movies and stay at AJ's to watch them. Amanda suggested that all the girls should go and pick them out. Kevin wasn't sure he trusted six girls to go out and pick out movies. He told the other guys to prepare for a cry fest. Jenn laughed and reassured him that if Mickey was going then they would have at least one or two action movies. He still had his doubts. The girls took Amanda's car and headed to Blockbuster.

"So how do you guys like Florida?" Amanda asked.

"It's really nice. I love it." Jenn said.

"I live here so it's nothing much for me." Jo said.

"Yeah it's different when you live here isn't it?" Amanda said.

"Mickey, you're awfully quiet." Mandy observed.

"Yeah," She said, looking out the window. "I have a lot of stuff on my mind so I've been going through it. It happens sometimes with me."

"Oh, I totally understand. Same thing happens to me too." She said.

"I'm sure it does." Mickey thought, looking at the blonde in the front seat. "And I bet it doesn't take much."

"So do you know what movies you want?" Laura asked.

"Just to get Kevin back, we should get really sappy ones." Mandy said laughing.

"I don't know..." Jo said as she, Jenn and Laura looked at Mickey. Mickey stuck her tongue out at them and then laughed.

"Get foriegn sub text ones." Mickey said chuckling.

"Oh my gosh, they would be so mad!" Amanda laughed. "I like it!"

"Yeah, too bad it would get on our nerves too." Jenn said.

"Really. Hmm, any good new releases with cute guys?" Laura asked.

"I think all men are starting to look good to me." Mickey said. "Scary thought." She shuddered.

The girls grabbed four movies and then headed back for AJ's. The guys were in the pool room shooting some eight ball and drinking beer. By the look of it, they had started drinking right after the girls left, they were a little tipsy now. Mickey went to put the movies in the livingroom and the other girls stayed in the pool room. They chuckled as the guys tried to play pool in their inebriated state. Mickey could here them all laughing and smiled to herself. She loved it when everone was in a good mood. She headed into the kitchen as she thought of the guys and then of Nick.

"Hey." Kevin said walking in. "I just came to get some more beer."

"Do you want some help carrying them back to the pool room?"

"Sure." He said. "Can I ask you something?"

"Uh-oh, I hate it when people say that." She laughed.

"No no, it's nothing bad. It's just that Jo mentioned that you like to write and you want to produce videos and stuff."

"Yeah?" She questioned him.

"Well I was just wondering...we're going to be in charge of everything now and that includes videos."

"Go on." She said, her interest peaked.

"Do you think we can get together on a professional basis sometimes. You and the five of us. You can help us with our videos, that's if you want to."

"Whoa, I mean, wow. I'd love to, but I don't have any formal training."

"That's ok, we need your ideas. We can teach you the technical side of it."

"Are you serious? You want my ideas for videos?"

"Yeah." He chuckled. "I don't want to put you in a bad position. I know things are rocky with you and Nick right now. I just want to know if you can work with him professionaly."

"Yeah, that won't be a problem. Oh my gosh, thank you so much Kevin." She said running over and giving him a hug.

"Let's get back in there. You don't know what guys are like when they run outta beer."

They headed back into the pool room and were almost attacked AJ and Nick. Kevin looked over at Mickey with an 'I told you' look on his face. She giggled and put the beer in the fridge behind the bar and then went over and sat next to Jenn. Brian went over to the stereo and blasted it. He put in Vanilla Ice's cd so everyone laughed and danced to Ice Ice Baby. They were having a blast singing along. They all stopped when Deb walked into the room. She was looking at them like they were crazy. The guys burst out laughing and Brian fell on the floor.

"Ah, AJ can I talk to you for a second?" She asked.

"What is it Deb?" He wanted to know.

"Can we go in the other room?"

"Fine." He got up and walked out of the room.

"Poor guy." Howie said when AJ left. "Here he is having a blast with his girlfriend and exgirlfriend, everyone's getting along just fine. Then the problem comes with the exroommate. Go figure."

"I think she's mad cause she never got to be his girlfriend." Nick said.

"I didn't think she liked him like that." Amanda added.

"It has nothing to do with liking him. She was hoping to get somewhere I think." Brian thought outloud.

"Do you guys always talk about people like this?" Jenn asked.

"We're normal people Jenn." Kevin said. "You guys talk about stuff like this right?"

"Oh God, should I be worried." Mickey asked.

"No silly." Mandy said playfully hitting her on the arm. "Why would we talk about you for?"

"Ah, rhetorical question." Mickey said, walking off to the side.

"Oh, ok." Mandy said as they all heard a door slam. Everyone looked at each other.

"Well I'm going for a walk." Mickey said.

"I'm gonna go check on AJ." Nick stated.

"I'll just stay here." Brian said, opening another beer.

"Me too." Said everyone else. And the pool games resumed.
