.Chapter.Twenty-Two.

Jo was very excited as she looked out the window of the bus. They were pulling into Richmond,Virginia. Jo was originally from Richmond and she always loved to return. Brain told her that the two of them could spend the day together going around to see her old friends and some relatives. She was so happy, she was sitting at the edge of her seat rocking.

"Oh, you guys are going to love it here." She was saying.

"I'm already loving it." Brian said looking at her.

"Isn't this where the Poca chick was?" Nick asked.

"You mean Pocahontas? Yeah Nick but I don't think she would like to be refered to as Poca chick."

"I don't know, I see a chick and I wanna poke her." AJ joked. Laura slapped him and he stopped laughing.

"There's so much history here in Richmond."

"Well until now I didn't even know where it was." Jenn said. Jo looked at her like she was crazy.

"They don't teach American history in the schools in Canada." Mickey explained.

"Are you serious?" Jo just couldn't believe this.

"I think they did at some of the private schools but not at Catholic schools." Laura said.

"Or at the public schools." Jenn added.

"Geesh, how many school boards do you guys have?" Howie asked.

"Just three, I think." Laura answered.

"So what are you guys going to do while me and Jo go out?" Brian asked everyone.

"Work on a couple of songs." Kevin asked.

"Sleep." AJ said looking at Laura and smiling.

"Me and BJ are going to the mall I think." Mickey said.

"Oh can I join you guys?" Jenn asked.

"Sure, I'm not driving though. I'm not sure yet how we're getting there or even where there is."

"There's a good mall not far from the hotel." Jo informed her.

Brian was smiling, he loved seeing her this happy. He was looking forward to the rest of the day. American history was not something he normally enjoyed but Jo seemed to make it interesing. They were going to go look at statues and places where important things took place. He wasn't sure he'd pay attention to the details but he knew he would definately pay attention to Jo. He didn't want to be spotted by fans today, he wanted the day for just him and Jo. If the welcome at the hotel was a sign then it wasn't a good one. There were tons of fans waiting for them when they pulled up to the hotel. The Boys fought their way through the crowd, surrounded by their gaurds. The girls waited on the bus and went around back with the band bus and headed inside with the band and Denise.

Jo was practically jumping around the room as she waited for Brian to change. She called one of her aunts and a couple of friends and a bunch of them were going to get together. First they were going to go to her Aunt Pauline's, a few other family members were going to meet them there. After visiting with them for a bit she was going to show Brian some of the history of the city as they made their way to her bestfriend Cheryl's house. She wasn't sure exactly what they would do when they were at the houses but she didn't care, she was going to see the people she loved. She worried a bit about how her friends would react when they saw that her new boyfriend was Brian Littrell of the Backstreet Boys. She knew her friends were fans but she didn't tell them that she was with him. They would never believe her anyhow, God, she didn't believe Mickey when Mickey told her that she was with them, and she didn't even say that one of them was her boyfriend. Plus, she wanted to see the looks on their faces. She still wasn't sure who all was going to be there.

Brian came into her room wearing blue jeans, a South Park shirt and a Virginia State hat. He said that he needed the hat to help disquise him a bit so he figured he'd go for a Virginia State one so he wouldn't look out of place. Jo laughed at him because it wasn't something he would normally wear. She thought he looked cute in the South Park shirt. He told her he borrowed it from Jenn. She was wearing blue jean shorts and a baby tee that she bought in Texas. She did one final check in the mirror, she wanted to look good for everyone, including Brian. They went to Howie's room to let everyone know that they were on their way. Everybody had gathered in Howie's room to see what the plans where for the day. They had the day off but had to come here because they had an interview with the local news and radio station at six. Brian and Jo said goodbye and left the others still wondering what they were going to do to kill the time.

The visit with her family went pretty well. Some of her cousins recognized Brian but they were good about it, only two of them kept screaming. Her aunt kept feeding them home baked goodies. Brian was loving it because it had been a while since he had the chance to pig out like this. He loved Southern people, he thought they were the nicest people in the States. Jo kept looking over at him to see if he was enjoying himself, he seemed to be. Everyone was sad when the time came to leave but they understood that Jo was only in town for a couple of days and that she had a lot to do. They didn't have much time to look at the historic stuff so they quickly headed over to Cheryl's.

"Are you ok Jo?" Brian asked her as she drove to her friend's house.

"Yeah I'm fine. I'm just a little worried about how they're going to act when they see you. I don't want you to be mad if they screech."

"Don't worry about it. I definately won't get mad at you or anyone else. Remember, I'm used to having people see me without expecting it."

"Yeah, I guess you're right. What if you don't like them though?"

"What do you mean, what if I don't like them? I'm sure I'll like them. There aren't many people in this world that I don't like."

"Great, then I'll feel worse if you don't like them."

"Jo," He said putting a hand on her leg. "Don't worry babe. Everything will be ok. Just have some fun and smile would ya."

"Alright then."

When they arrived at Cheryl's, they were greeted by seven of Jo's closest friends from Virginia. She was so happy that tears started to fall. They were floored when they saw who her boyfriend was. The nine of them sat around talking about just about everything. Some of them had questions for Brian, which he didn't mind answering. He could tell that Jo was happy and that her friends were sincere, they were just curious. They were talking about old times and telling stories of Jo. Brian all of a sudden felt a little sad. He wished he could go home and do this with his friends. A lot of his memories were from over five years ago and a lot of his friends changed after he became famous. He kept in touch with Chris but other then that there weren't too many he kept in contact with on a regular basis. He didn't want to think about himself though, it wasn't fair to Jo. They were only able to stay at Cheryl's for an hour. They were running behind a little and had to rush to get back to the hotel for the six o'clock interviews.

"I'm sorry for making you late." Jo apologized as they left Cheryl's.

"Hey, you didn't make me late. I lost track of time too. I don't know why you were worried that I wouldn't like your friends. I liked all of them."

"I think they liked you too. And not just because of who you are."

"I know what you mean."

When Jo parked the car in the hotel parking lot they ran undetected into the lobby. Denise was there waiting for them and she wasn't too happy. Luckily it wasn't six yet but it was close and Denise wanted him there sooner. He had to run upstairs and quickly change. He wouldn't have minded doing the interview in the South Park shirt but Denise frowned when he suggested it so he went and changed. He asked Jo if she would be present for the interviews but she said she was going to go see what the other girls were up to. She told him that she would go see him after he got back upstairs. He said that he would find her in one of the rooms after the interview. He was sure that one of the other guys would know where they were. She agreed and gave him a kiss before heading to Howie's room to see if the girls were still there. They weren't, but she finally found them in Laura and AJ's room.

"Hey Jo, how was your day?" Laura asked.

"It was awesome!! Oh my gosh I had so much fun! I got to see a lot of people. Brian is so sweet for putting up with it."

"I don't think he minded." Mickey observed.

"So, what did you guys do?" Jo asked.

"Nothing much. Laura and AJ got it on, me, Mickey and BJ went to the mall with Nick. That was interesting." Jenn was explaining.

"Why, what happened?" Asked Jo.

"Well Mickey and Nick. Ok, we know they're in love, not sure if they know it though. They've been fighting and avoiding each other for a while so me and BJ weren't sure what to expect. Suprisingly nobody killed each other. There were a few times when things were a little tense but when we were in the mall they actually had fun. They were laughing together and everything."

"Wow, so you guys had a good time then?"

"I did!" Laura smiled. BJ just rolled her eyes.

"Yeah, the mall was pretty good. Lots of cute guys, unfortunately I was with my big brother. Not a good thing when looking for guys."

"I don't imagine." Laughed Jo.

"I'm just happy that nobody recognized Nick. We would have been in trouble if a crowd of people came rushing us." Jenn said thinking about the possible incident.

"Correction, Nick would be in trouble. I'd have left him." Mickey said laughing to herself.

"Oh no you wouldn't." Laura protested. "You would be the first one there batting people away from him."

"Naw, I'd stand back and laugh at him."

"I agree with Mickey." Jenn said. "It would be funny."

"You guys are so mean! You would just leave my brother there to get mauled by a bunch of girls?"

"You'd have a better chance of picking up guys." Mickey reminded her.

"True, I never thought of it that way." All five girls started to laugh. A little while later the Boys showed up all full of chatter. All of them wanted to get changed right away. Jo went with Brian because they were going to finish off their day by watching movies for the rest of the night. They said good night to everyone and headed off. Everybody else decided to go to the resaurant downstairs for something to eat and then maybe play some cards or something later. Jo decided to stop by her room to change into jogging pants for the quiet night in, it was hard to lounge around in jean shorts.

"What would you like for supper?" Brian asked her when he came out of the bathroom after changing.

"I have no idea."

"Ok, let's try to narrow it down a bit. Where would you like to get supper from? We could have room service or order a pizza or chinese or whatever and get them to deliver it."

"How about spaghetti?"

"Sounds good to me. I'll call and order it."

Brian ordered the supper and it arrived shortly after. They ate and then snuggled into the couch to watch the first of the movies that were on. Good Will Hunting was on first, followed by Face Off. They held onto each other throughout the movie and looked at each other when Minnie Driver and Matt Damon kissed for the first time. When the movie ended they had twenty minutes to kill before Face Off was going to come on. Brian went over and turned on the radio, it was an all request love song program.

Brian reached out his hand to Jo and asked her if she would dance with him. She put her hand in his and got up off the couch. The danced for a couple of songs and then Aerosmith's I Don't Want To Wait came on. They got a little closer and danced a little slower. At the end of the song he looked at her and told her that he didn't want to miss a thing either. He leaned down to kiss her. He pulled back and playfully reminded her that he was sober. She giggled and then told him to shut up as she went in for another kiss. He brought his hand up to her face and she grabbed his shirt by his stomach with one of her friends. Slowly she started to lift the shirt, he put his arms off and she pulled it over his head. He drew her closer to him and walked her over to the bed where he gently laid her back. He leaned over and turned out the light and then focused his attention on Jo as the music played in the background.
