Destin Beach

Destin is a town in the northern panhandle of Florida. It has a plethora of sugar white beaches. It is strictly a beach town! It's pretty much exclusively for the upper middle class to wealthy types of people. It absolutely is a beach and deep sea fishing area, there is not much more to do. So get your sunscreen and prepare for long sunny days on the beach: playing volleyball, people watching and many hours of playing golf! Destin hosts some of the finest golf courses in the world. Many courses have a dress code. This beach also hosts a wide array of artists, including the world renowned, Wyland Galleries. Destin has a few cheaper to moderately priced hotels, but they book quickly and reservations need to be made several month's ahead. However, be prepared to pay $3.00 for a Big Mac. They hike the prices of fast food here, two fold. Also, be prepared to find it hard to find access to the beaches anywhere close to your hotel. Many of these places are gated communities so be prepared to pay the price for staying beachside. Many local buisinesses will also tow your car if you violate their parking restrictions. However, on the sunny side, Destin is one of the finest, most beautiful, clean, family oriented beaches in the entire country, much less Florida. It would be well worth paying the premium price to stay here at a beach front location. On a scale of 1-10, I give Destin a 9 - Family fun, beautiful scenery, wondeful golf courses and first class accommodations. The downfalls are pricing and the best time to visit is in the summer when just like Pensacola, it is warm enough to swim in the water. North Florida can be very cold in the winter.
