Hooters Cars Show, March 11, 2000
Lake Buena Vista, Florida
The Central Florida F-Bodies participated in a car show at a local Hooters restaurant. The show was a charity event
for the Primrose Center for the mentally handicapped. Over 75 cars came out for this great cause and although the weather didn't cooperate as well as we planned, a great
time was had by all. Music was played by DJ Monte and his wife Mare which was excellent as always. Awards were given out to the top 20 cars and there were no individual
classes so this meant it was every man for himself. There were a lot of great cars out there and competition was very tough. The CFFB had about a dozen members
participating. Here are some highlights from the show.
Well here I am in all my glory. I won one of the Top 20 awards and the Hooters girls presented the awards. The girls were really great sports as was the management staff of Hooters. Thanks to all of them for
their great hospitality!
After the judging was completed, the Hooters girls posed with some of the cars. Here they are in front of my SS.
John didn't win an award, but he's got a great looking 97 Drop Top Trans Am nonetheless. Here's the Hooters girls again with John's TA.
Here is the Hooters judging crew checking out Scott's 97 SS. I don't know what they're looking at but I can imagine what you're looking at! Unfortunately, Scott didn't win an award, but he had one of the nicest and cleanest cars out there.
As I said, the weather didn't cooperate at first. The rain came, then went, came again, then went away for good and it got really nice (and hot!). Here are the cars all buttoned up while we're inside Hooters having a beer
and eating chicken wings and admiring the view inside. I guess the rain wasn't all that bad!
Once the rain stopped, the cars were opened back up, the music started up again, and the show went on. Here's John's Trans AM on the left, my SS in the middle, and Roger's
30th Anniversary Trans AM on the right. Roger also went home with a Top 20 award.
Saturday was a very long day. After the Hooters show, we went home, got cleaned up, and met up at the Steak and Shake in Altamonte Springs for the Orlando Bowtie Club's monthly
meet. We were all pretty much beat but we're all car nuts too so we showed our support at this meet as well. The Pewter SS next to mine belongs to Chris aka "The Dice Man".
Jimmy G finally brought out his brand new 2000 Pewter SS to Steak and Shake. Next to him is Sean's 98 Navy Blue Metallic Trans Am which happened to win a trophy for
Best Modern Muscle Car at the Bow Tie Club's meet.
